Our family of four (two sons age 12 and 13) cruised from Fort Lauderdale 3/27/10 on the Carnival Freedom. This was our first time on Carnival. We have cruised previously on Royal Caribbean and Princess. Arrived one day early and stayed at the Embassy Suites Fort Lauderdale. Hotel isn't inexpensive, but a great choice for a pre-cruise stay. Took a quick taxi ride to the port.

We thought we would just list the pros and cons of the Carnival Freedom.

Pros: Fun ship If you like events like hairy chest contest and other pool games you'll be amused Good show selection. Comedians were fair, some singing and dancing shows, a hypnotist, karoake, a Legends show (where passengers take on the roles of famous singing legends). Warm Chocolate Melting Cake...served in the dining room. Our Cruise Director Ryan was very good. Not too over the top. Lots of storage/closet space in our balcony room. Most we've ever had. 24 hour pizza place was good Great ports on our cruise: Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, Antiqua, Tortola and Nassau Specialty Steakhouse Restaurant was delicious. We liked anytime dining. Only one evening did we have to wait. Disembarkation and Embarkation fast and efficient Big Movie Screen, Seaside Theatre, showed movies and sporting events Very clean ship!!
