Cruise to Mexican Riviera March of '10. Stayed at the Embassy South the night before - a great deal at $129 for free cocktails and breakfast. Get a room away from the restaurant as it was a bit loud.

At first glance at the Royal Promenade, it seemed like a mall and I wondered if that would bug us, but they made it so fun that by the end of the cruise we loved it. Magnificent ship - fun (quirky) art, contemporary all around; not stodgy fancy like we found the Ruby Princess to be. A younger crowd, hip, well dressed, not obnoxious although it was spring break, tons of families. Stuff to do nonstop - music trivia, bingo, shows, Meet the Captain, backstage tour, casino, etc.

Evening shows were awesome. Don't miss the disco event at the Royal Promenade or the Quest game in Studio B - both an absolutely scream, and if you're half dead you have to go anyway. The captain of this ship is a riot - rides his Harley off the ship and wears red and green socks to "keep the ports straight". The cruise director was awesome too and surprisingly can REALLY sing, as he did on the last night's show. I don't think the cruise activities staff ever sleeps.

Cabin Review

Cabin bal

#6294 - 6th floor which was the lowest we've ever had, but in a good quiet and still location. Small room but about what we expected. Enough storage, etc. The third bed was a pull-out over our bed but it worked out fine except for hitting our heads several times. Nice bedding. Bathroom was so-so. We were rarely there anyway. When we were, we were on the bed watching TV looking out at the ocean and nothing else mattered.
