We drove down the day before the cruise and stayed at the Hampton Inn in McComb. Then on Saturday morning we had only a short drive to New Orleans. We parked our cars with Angel at Machu Pichu Tours. Very convenient. We arrived at the pier around 11:30; however, the Triumph was late getting in that morning and most passengers were still onboard. We were advised to go have lunch and come back in a few hours. We chose to do so rather than stand in line that long. There were six of us (inculding two grandsons). Thought it best to try to find something to entertain the kids with. We walked through the Riverwalk. Just outside the Riverwalk at the far end is "Poppys". We decided to have lunch on their patio. Beautiful day to sit outside and eat. Food was great. We took our time. When we went back to board the ship there was still a line. So we decided to just sit outside the Riverwalk until we saw the line moving. We heard several stories as to why the ship was late and it was taking so long to get everyone off. But it really didn't make any difference. Whatever the reason was, we weren't going to get on any faster. So we were just patient. As it turned out, we had a great time along the River.

Right after muster we had to go to dinner (early seating). We thought dinner in the dining room (London) was very nice. Out waiter, "PACHOLO" was great. We ate in the dining room every night except one when we got back to the boat too late to change and get to dinner in time. But that was O.K. We had been in Cozumel at Nachi Cocom all day. It was our second formal night and none of us really wanted to get dressed up. So we just ate at the Buffet, which we enjoyed. We chose to sit upstairs at the Buffett, because it is much less crowded up there.

Our first port, Belize, we chose not to book an excursion. We waited until most of the people had left the boat, then we went down to get on the tender. No problem. The grandkids loved the tender boat ride. We just stayed in the Port area. We ate lunch at the Wet Lizard. Nothing special, but O.K. We had fun there, but just weren't crazy about the food. We did a little shopping and then tendered back to the boat.

Cabin Review

Cabin 1040 - great location - very near all the action by the pools; however, far enough away so it was very quiet. Inside cabin makes for great sleeping; stays very dark. Seemed to have plenty of storage for two people. We stored our luggage under the bed. Bed was very comfortable. Shower was great - powerful. We were surprised. However, there was a slight odor after the shower had run a while.
