While the check-in was a nightmare (computers were down, long lines), the rest of our cruise was marked by superb service. Without exception, the RCI staff treated us with complete friendliness. Our wait staff at dinner were always eager to please. So, too, was our room attendant. The ship was the largest we have been on. Despite the size, we were able to easily navigate all areas. The shows were all surprisingly professional. They respected the young members in the audience, while entertaining the adults.
Food selection was typical, although we were surprised with the variety of food offered in the Windjammer for breakfast and lunch. Dinner at Portofino was well worth the $20 upcharge, as was the $4.95 cover charge for burgers at Johnny Rocket's.
The main dining room offered a varied selection. All of our finicky eaters were able to satisfy their appetites.
The on-board activities were somewhat limited, particularly on the last full day at sea. We had a great time, regardless.
Kudos for great service. While the disembarking was the easiest we have ever experienced (on time, allowed us to stay in our cabins until the last few minutes), RCI needs to work on the check-in procedures (this has been a consistent complaint, particularly in Galveston).
We will voyage on RCI again.
