Sail Date: Feb 2010

We were on the February 22-March5th sailing of the Millenium. As we arrived close to 6 p.m. we were not there for the mandatory drill which did not disappoint us. Our balcony room was approximately the same size as those on Princess but with far less storage. We were forced to store items on the floor behind the loveseat and on the bar that ran the length of the room. Our steward was fair as he kept the room clean but would forget to deliver clean wash rags, soap, etc. We compensated by leaving him notes. Problem solved. The ship is getting older and it shows. The wood on the balconies needs refinishing, windows were dirty, and many areas could use paint. We booked excursions through Celebrity and were quite pleased with what was offered. Our favorites were the America's cup sailing races in St. Martin and the rain forest tram in Domanica. We snorkeled at Buck Island (not so great because of cloudy, windy day), Barbados (excellent time with the sea turtles!), and St. Lucia (there is nothing to see so they buried concrete statues). I went to the fitness center daily and it was never crowded. It was difficult to find healthy menu items except in the spa dining area which was only open for breakfast and lunch. Just before the middle of the cruise things changed dramatically. You no longer could serve yourself anything on the buffets due to the large numbers of sick passengers. Lots of extra cleaning was being done and you could smell bleach everywhere. Our rooms were fumigated which caused my asthma and allergy to flare. Others at our dining table were also affected with sinus and eye irritations most common. Health announcements were made several times each day. In Aruba the line to medical was longer than the line to leave the ship. And yet we were told that only 10 people were sick. I felt they were lying to us. Rumors were rampant. It lead to a strange atmosphere as you looked at the person next to you and wondered if they were contagious. All in all, we had a pleasant holiday but it was not due to Celebrity.

Cabin Review

Cabin B1

You really feel the waves in this cabin. There is a loud whistling though the connecting doors and in the hallways. Convenient for spa and fitness.
