My husband & are are early 50's, and just returned from our 4th Carnival cruise. This 4 day adventure took us to Key West and Cozumel. Carnival did not let us down with the food, stateroom & service, but there were few on board who even noticed.

We arrived in Miami the night before the cruise and stayed at the Fortune House Hotel in downtown Miami. I booked it through Hotwire and was apprehensive after reading reviews. Our room was a very nice 2 bedroom condo, with 2 bathrooms & a full kitchen. We were very pleased with the room & the staff. A great deal for what I paid for it! We did our usual visit to Bayside Marketplace and ate at Bubba Gumps (yummy steamed shrimp) and listened to the free band playing on the waterfront. It is a beautiful place, all lit up at night! I highly recommend it. We were too far away to walk there, so a taxi was in order.

We arrived at the Port of Miami around noon, dropped our luggage curbside and parked in the garage right across from the dock. $20.00 per night to be paid upon leaving. The lines in the terminal moved fairly quickly and we were able to board smoothly. This process was slowed somewhat by all the first time cruisers. Most of whom were college kids anxious to begin 4 solid days of parties.

Cabin Review

Cabin E257 was in the back of the ship. It was pretty quiet back there because it was not a main walkway. It was across from a convenient stairway that led to the Serenity Deck and another flight up to the Lido deck restaurant. The cabin had a decent size window facing aft. You do feel the ship's movement back here, so if prone to motion sickness, I would avoid it. We love the rocking of the ship, so we always choose this location. The cabin had 3 closets, 1 of which is made up of shelves & includes a safe. The bed was very comfy. There is a small vanity/desk top area with 4 small drawers. Only 1 plug in, so bring along a power strip to charge cell phones, cameras, etc. The bathroom has no counter top. You will need a hanging bag for toiletries. The shower does have a shampoo & body wash dispenser. There is no hairdryer in this bathroom. Don't make the mistake of leaving yours at home, like I did!
