We are first time cruisers (except the Grandmother) with two teenagers. We have tried many spring break experiences (mostly high end all inclusive or Ritz in Jamaica, Cayman Islands, etc.)
Overall Impression: We were awed by the ship itself. Our 14 year old son could not believe his eyes. The public spaces were beautiful and clean. I loved the fact that I would constantly see staff very inconspicuously walking around with tidy blue satchels out of which came cleaning supplies. The staff was consistently friendly, helpful, and kind. We were actually amazed at how happy they all seemed considering how very hard they work. Occasionally we felt that our stateroom attendant came on a bit strong—we couldn't go to our room without him flagging us down and of course we knew that he wanted to translate all of that attention to a big tip, but our room was certainly in tip top condition 100% of the time.
While mostly an enjoyable experience, the drawback of this cruise was the guests; particularly the college students. We are not prissy, but couldn't help thinking that no one seems to have any manners any more--particularly the college students. It's one thing for kids to swear like sailors in front of one another—but did no one teach them to at least pretend they have manners in front of grown ups? There was a tragedy on board where a young man dove into an empty pool and had to be transferred to Cozumel and ultimately to Miami where his condition is uncertain. We witnessed a lot of drinking to excess.
