Ship Facts: Carnival Victory Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Victory Deck Plans
Great Cruise, Great Itinerary, Pleasantly Surprised
First let me start by saying this was our first Carnival cruise and we were worried that it might not be as great as other cruises we have been on. We were a group of 4 couples mostly in our 30's. We have cruise with Princess, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian. One couple had never cruised before. We decided to book this cruise because we had always wanted to do the Southern Caribbean but never found cheap enough tickets to San Juan to do it. We found tickets that were reasonable so we booked it. We were excited about the itinerary, as most are who book this cruise. We had already been to St Thomas and St Martin on a previous cruise but the other ports were all new, including San Juan All that said, I have to say we were pleasantly surprised with Carnival and would definitely cruise with them again Embarkation- Seemed a little unorganized compared to other ports at least first getting on First thing we noticed was ship decor.... a bit gaudy but who really cares. The cabins could use some updating- especially the bathrooms that are all pink! But again who really cares. after day 1 you dont even notice it. We had an inside as we always do and liked the way it was laid out. The bed was up against the wall and it really made for a much more spacious room, we liked that a lot. Our steward was really nice and did a great job!! Thing that had annoyed about the rooms was that the safe was locked and unlocked with our ship keys instead of a code. this was annoying once or twice like if I wanted to go back to the room early but needed my boyfriends key to open the safe. also, no refrigerator- major downfall Our servers were unbelievable! They were so great. Having been a waitress for 8 years and knowing what it takes to take care of your customers is hard work and they were over the top fantastic. For example if one of us asked for something one night, they would automatically get it for us the next night without even asking. This happened with Tabasco sauce, milk with the lava cake, sodas, etc. The shows the servers do nightly are really fun. I have never seen another cruise line do this and it was really cute.

Food- we all really liked the food on this ship! I have to say that the food here (with the exception of the pizza) was better on Carnival then Princess or any other line. They had great food and a great variety at both the dinners and the buffet The buffet had long lines, longer then any other cruise we had been on but we only ate breakfast in the buffet so it didn't much matter. If you get up early enough and don't feel rushed to get off the boat then who cares about the long lines, you are on vacation right?!?

The ports- they were great! We are total beach people and usually don't do many excursions (at least 2 out of the 4 couples) and just like to find the nicest beach and chill out. We were bummed that Dominica didn't have a beach but we found that we could just walk around do a little shopping and then we found this really cute bar and had some drinks and got this rum that was awesome! and we didn't have a problem getting it back on the ship because its in a old plastic coke bottle so we just said it was fruit juice :) The other ports were great. We had been to St Thomas before so we went on our own to St John. Trunk Bay IS amazing and glad we did go but if we ever go to St Thomas we would just go to Magens Bay since its very similar and less time and money spent to get there. St Kitts was great we all loved it there. Definitely recommend Cockleshell Beach

The overall ship itself- its small and not hard to navigate around. When we did hang out at the pool like after Dominica and sometimes when we got back on board @ 4:30 we hung out at the adult pool in the back of the ship. It was nice but the pool could have been bigger. I think too the main pool was just not big enough. I think cruises should make their pool areas much bigger. The slide was a plus, had never been on a ship that had a slide, it was fun to do. We were thinking that it would be a younger crowd being Carnival but it wasn't. There were a lot of older people on this cruise

The entertainment was decent- the comedians were funny One negative was that there were a lot of people smoking. I had never really noticed on other ships people smoking but it seemed to be a lot on this ship. I think they were allowed to smoke in more areas on this ship or something.

If you have any questions at all just let me know! lemon76@hotmail.com
