We checked out of our hotel room at Galvez early so we could board the ship early. Bad mistake. This was the Feb 21 Conquest cruise that was fogged in. Actually the previous group could not dock for the fog, so that was just one delay, then the Harbor Master didn't allow us to leave till the fog lifted. Once on board we did not care; dinner was great, our bags at the cabin doors, and after a long day, we were all glad to explore the ship. We noiselessly slipped away sometime around 2 a.m. and woke to pleasant rocking. We knew we had the perfect cabin location 8233 forward. Then Captain Antonino pushed that ship to the max & we were only 2 hrs late to Jamaica. Yeah Captain!

Monday night my husband got sick & I called the infirmary for Imodium AD. They insisted they see the patient. He had no fever but was quarantined in our cabin 48 hours. Thank goodness we had a balcony! He was well cared for and checked on; food service brought his prescribed diet any time. His mini bar sodas and bottled water was all free. They did offer free movies but he did not order any. There was no formal diagnosis, but we think they are correct to be careful for others' sake. He missed Sky Explorer, and the next day at CI, the Atlantis sub was canceled due to rough seas anyway. All fees were promptly credited.

The rest of us went to Sky Explorer and Dunns River Falls. The climb up the Falls should have been designated a level 3 for difficulty; the lift was very pleasant tho. Lunch was delicious (jerk chicken & peas n rice). Our tour guide was Ter-Ann. She alone was worth the cost. Such an entertainer, and gave us dozens of little known Jamaican facts, lore, language, and history. I think my 11 yoa grandson was in love!! She is also very pretty and super sweet. Honestly, she explained the plight of the poor in Jamaica, as well as the beauty of her country. This was an excellent excursion; something for everyone. On the return lift, it was getting to be dusk (remember, we were late to arrive) and the night birds were swooping over the jungle, calling out to each other. They were beautiful, the lift was quiet, and it was a treasured moment we shall never forget.

Cabin Review

Cabin Bal

Perfect location, wonderful housekeeper (Franklin), awesome balcony. I am always intrigued with the layout of the bathrooms. Everything handy. I like that. We heard no noise from the hallway, elevator was convenient. Our cabin was much roomier than the others who had inside cabins. Family of 4 still liked their king & 2 bunks. It all fit!
