We just returned from a 14 day Southern Caribbean Cruise on the Constellation. We had cruised before on the same ship in 12-08 and were not impressed. We acknowledged in the last review that we would cruise again if the price was right. Well the price was right and this time we were impressed.
We flew into Fort Lauderdale and were met by SAS transportation which had us at the ship in Miami by 10:45 and were on the ship by 11:00. Everything with embarkation was quick and smooth. Because we had signed up for the cruise late we were assigned late seating. We met with the dining staff and changed to Select Dining and reserved a table every night for 6:15. Our waiter- Nelson and assistant- Poppicon were great. Quality of food was good and portion size was adequate. We enjoy trying several options at dinner so their size worked out well.
It was cold in Miami when we arrived, so we stopped by our room and our steward Joaquim allowed us to put our carry on items in the room. He was great throughout the whole cruise. I think they must sleep under your bed. I got up one night to go to the bathroom and the bed was made when I got back.( Only kidding)
The weather was great and I have never seen the water so calm. I would go into detail about the ports, but all that info is available on the boards. I will say that getting off and on the ship was very easy, with a cold towel and drink always awaiting you at return.
Entertainment on the ship was OK at best. We enjoy stopping in to see Perry Grant and he always brings up my wife as he does with others who attend his show. You either love or hate Perry, there is no in between. We did have a person on the cruise who would sing with the band at the pool who always received loud applause.
Getting off the ship was also a breeze. From the time we left our cabin till we were outside was not more then 15 minutes including all the walking. We were met by SAS which took us to the airport for our return flight.
In conclusion, we were very pleased with the service, food and friendliness of all the workers on the ship. We met some nice people as we always do ( Cindy and Bill joined our tale for dinner), and would definitely cruise with Celebrity again. The ship was showing some wear but is going into dry dock soon and I am sure when it returns it will be better then ever.
