We woke up early on Sunday morning and drove to Port Canaveral and found our Ship waiting for us! Just so the reader knows my husband and I are in our late 40's and mid 50's respectively. This was our first cruise together and we were taking this vacation in order to celebrate our first anniversary. Parking and embarkation was painless. The only small glitch was our soft sided cooler was 3 inches too big and it was almost not allowed on the ship! This was totally my own fault as I did not correctly measure it before leaving home. The only one word could be used to describe the dEcor and the general attitude of the Sensation it would have to be FUN! From the moment we got onboard we knew we were in for a good time! And a good time is just what we had. We were so very impressed with everything. The staff were friendly, helpful and on top of everything. They kept this ship "ship - shape" at all times! The cleanliness of the ship was outstanding. And the food! Oh my!! The pizza was the best; I have got to find the recipe for the crust they use! Dinner in the MDR was a 5 star rating in our book all the way. From the quality of service we received to the flavor and presentation it was all 1st class. We ate there every night but one and used the "My Time Dining" option and every morning you could find us there for breakfast. While on the Lido deck we took notice that when a passenger was finished with their meal and left their dining area a crew staff would be there in no time to clear the area and clean it for the next passenger to use. We had an inside cabin and we were both impressed with the roominess of it. We were expecting it to be a little box with little to no storage but all of our clothing fit in the closets and the drawers and our suitcases stored nicely under the bed. Yes, we were guilty of over packing! Our room steward was Gusti and not only did he keep our room spotless but he refilled our cooler with ice daily. I wish we could have brought him home with us. The weather in Freeport was rainy and colder than we would have liked but we enjoyed looking in the little shops. The seas were somewhat rough that night but we never got sea sick or felt that we should worry. We were actually surprised at how smoothly we were sailing because the wind was strong and the seas were choppy! We docked in Nassau the next morning and were happy to find not only blue skies but warm sunshine! We opted not to do an excursion but to explore on our own instead. We found the Harley Davidson shop and got ourselves a couple of t-shirts, took a fast peak inside the straw market and easily found the public beach. Clear blue water and white sand was the order for the day! The water was cold but it did not stop us from taking a dip at all. To sum it all up the Sensation was great and we have already decided that this was just the first of many Carnival cruises to come.
