Sail Date: Feb 2010

This was our first RCCL cruise, although we are experienced cruisers. We've decided not to sail out of the Metropolitan area any more during the winter. Although we have sailed out of NY during January in the past and were fortunate to enjoy good weather, this time the sail out of this blek took forever. Four days down to St. Thomas was just too much; we've done this itinerary in the past and we were in the Caribbean in 2 days. Basically, we lost 6 outdoor activity days (4 down/2 back). Now, Mother Nature was to blame for 90% of this loss, but a less leisurely trip down would have helped tremendously. I know we have no control over the weather and that is why we say no more NY area departures - rather travel down to FL and be able to enjoy 12 full days of sun and fun.

The ship is absolutely beautiful and travels well in the water. Seas were raging on our last night and the ride was rough, but much better than some of the other ships we've sailed. Our cabin was comfortable; we were happy that we were in one of the larger balcony cabins - anything smaller and we would have been cramped. Closet and drawer space was wonderful. Bed was very comfortable and the place was always kept immaculate by our cabin steward, Eric. He was great.

Staff and crew were great - friendly, helpful, hardworking. Bar service was great too - not pushy, very friendly, good drinks! We always gave them extra $$ even though 15% was already added to bill. - no complaints in that department.
