Do Dreams Come True?

Sail Date: February 2010
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Port Canaveral

The ship was clean. I was surprised though that there were some general maintenance items that needed attention. There were public restrooms where the toilet would not flush, the sink did not work, and there was no soap dispenser. In my room, the lights flickered..it was told to the cabin steward and was not replaced/fixed while there. In the shower the grab-bar cap kept falling off...had no effect on function but was annoying.

I found the pools to be small in size in comparison to the number of guests aboard. Not a reflection on Carnival, but parents of the 1000+ kids aboard were often noisy and not well behaved. The young children the parents or Camp Carnival seemed to provide good guidance and supervision, however the teen group..were rude and it was annoying to have them make loud comments as adults walked by and for them to ask people to buy alcohol for them.

The ship was very noisy. Constant door slamming, and I could hear in detail conversations of those in More the hallway and in the next cabin.

The entertainment was very good. The general shows provided were a good quality and variety.

The wait staff was attentive and engaging. The food was good but other than the chocolate melting cake nothing outstanding. The spa services were great..the atmosphere of Cloud 9 lends itself to total relaxation. The Guest Service and Excursion staff were helpful and helped with a variety of questions. The shop staff was friendly and seemed to know their stock.

This was my 12th cruise but first on Carnival...overall I would consider sailing Carnival again, but probably would not be my first choice based on this experience. Less

Cabin review: Carnival Dream

Liked the idea of 4 separate closets...helped with organizing clothes. The balcony was great. The noise from the hallway was unbelievable. Normal level of conversation could be heard within the cabin.

Port and Shore Excursions

Very limited time on the island. With the times we were there I was not able to do the one thing I really wanted to...Sea Lions, so a disappointment. The straw market was average. Not a bad experience, but not a great one either.

This was not actually a port of call but took a water taxi from St. Thomas. It was a good experience. The taxi ride was good. The island tour was informative and provided some beautiful vistas. Would like to go back and spend some real time on St. John's.

A small island and the day we were there way too many ships in. The cruisers overtook the island which deterred from being able to enjoy the compact size of St Maarten. I would say if the cruise lines could coordinate and not have any more than 2 ships in at a time it would be a better overall experience for people and more money would be put into the island's economy with people being able to get to more places.

Spent little time on St. Thomas this time. Was a good experience. The people friendly and the shops near to the ship, although limited did provide a feel for the shopping experience.
