My college friend & I sailed on the Poesia from 1/30 to 2/08 - the Comedy Cruise - and went to the Eastern Carribean (San Juan, St. Maarten, Tortola, & Nassau). We found the ship to be clean, beautiful, relaxing and fun. This was her 22nd cruise and my 5th. We drove down from Atlanta, stayed overnight at the Cambria Suites and took their shuttle to the port. Once we finally got the shuttle and got to the port, we whisked through embarkation and were on the ship in no time! Lovely! We had been upgraded to a cabin on 12 from a guaranteed balcony - very nice! We had comfortable beds, a nice couch & "coffee" table (it could hold a tray of coffee & croissants), vanity with 7 drawers (one of the drawers had the hair dryer attached inside, but there was still room for brushes, etc.), two hanging closets, a closet with drawers and a safe, a small but serviceable bathroom and two night stands with drawers. There was plenty of storage space and room for the two of us (and we are not tiny girls!). The balcony was very nice with two comfortable chairs and a small table. We asked for an extra blanket and pillows and got them almost immediately. Our room steward was practically invisible, but everything in the room was cleaned, straightened, provided, & wonderful. It seemed like every time we left the room, it was cleaned and made-up when we got back! When we needed something, a quick phone call took care of it. We had room service every morning with coffee, tea & croissants. Getting danish or other pastries was next to impossible - one day we got them, one day we got dinner rolls, one day we were told they didn't have them available for room service! No problem though - just kind of funny to see what each morning would bring! As long as I got my coffee, it was all good! We enjoyed the "Arts & Crafts" for the "over 18" crowd - which was more like the "over 45" crowd - but since we fit the category it was fun! There did not seem to be a whole lot for tweens & teens to do besides the pool, ping pong, & board games. We did, however, see a lot of older folks playing cards, dominoes, and board games. Since we were all about relaxing and not doing a lot of activities, we were just fine. There were also cooking demos, some silly "dress-up" games, and other fun stuff put on by the entertainment team on the deck stage by the pool. The lounges are all beautiful and the staff did their best to keep smokers on the port side of all the lounges. Of course, some people paid no attention to that, but it wasn't too bad. Some people always think they are the exception to the rule! The shows were like big production numbers and were very entertaining (especially the two strong guys! Wow!). The comedians were very funny and family friendly. My friend went to the "Bonk" show and didn't care for it, but we heard some people raving about it - to each his own! There was exceptional live music playing in many different areas of the ship, and the entertainment team did some "game show" stuff in the Zebra Lounge every night. I would say the only thing we did have some dissatisfaction with was the dining times. We had late seating for dinner and were fine with that, but if you wanted to sleep late and have breakfast at 10:01AM you were SOL! They closed the restaurants and the cafeteria at 10AM on the dot! Too bad for you! The same thing with lunch. If you didn't get there by 2PM, you had to wait for dinner or order from the limited room service menu. So, we both felt they could have been a bit more lenient and at least leave the food out until it was gone - they took the trays away with lots of food still in them at the cafeteria! Sheesh! At dinner, we ate in the main dining room on the 5th floor at a table of 6 lovely folks for dinner each night. The formal nights did have people in casual clothes, but there was really no other option for them since the cafeteria was closed on those nights. Not good. Most of our meals were very good; we had a few dishes that were not and we were always offered alternatives. We have both been on other cruises where the food was much better, but we were satisfied & full after each meal, so it's hard to complain! After all, there was always a lovely strip steak when all else failed! And since we were being served and didn't have to do any dishes, we were happy! Our waiter & his helper were friendly and nice, & it could be because we were all friendly & nice. We did notice that he was not as smiley at some of his other tables, of which he had many! Perhaps they could use a few more people on the wait staff. Breakfast & lunch were "free seating" at the dining room, which meant the dining room captain sat you at a table with other people. We really enjoyed meeting people from Puerto Rico, Canada, England, New Jersey, Tennessee, Pennsylvania - great fun. Again, the food overall was good, not great. All in all, we really enjoyed our relaxing week on this beautiful ship. The ports of call were nice, but it would have been nicer to get into San Juan a little earlier so we could see it in the daylight. Maybe it's better in the dark?! We just enjoyed the warm weather (I'm from upstate NY & it was Freezing there!) and the beautiful accommodations and were satisfied with our trip. I know this is long, but one last thing: If you stay at the Cambria Suites and use their "Park & Cruise", be sure you call the shuttle before you get off the boat and insist that you get picked up first. Otherwise, they pick up all the people on the bigger cruise lines first and you have to wait about 2 hours to get back to the hotel. After my friend complained to the hotel manager we finally got picked up, but I stood waiting in the middle of the parking lot for almost two hours waiting for "the driver will be there in 15 to 20 minutes" after calling 3 different times. It was frustrating, tiring, & irritating. If they had just said how long it would really be, I could have waited on one of the benches. This hotel has only been open for a few weeks and I hope they will get the bugs worked out of their shuttle system soon, because the hotel itself is absolutely beautiful and a great value.

Cabin Review

Comfortable balcony cabin, plenty of storage, serviceable but tiny shower, some hallway noise.
