Ok, so this was my 6th cruise on Carnival. Until now, I have never complained...I will not mention the weather because you can't judge a cruise line or ship by Mother Nature. I just want to say, never go from Baltimore in the middle of winter, or at least this winter with all our storms. Also, never book a room on the back of the ship. Ok, the good stuff...we arrived at 12:30 and my hubby, son, and I had VIP check in since we had a suite. Sweet! We were on the ship by 1:30! All of our family waited, and waited, and waited. Finally getting on board around 3:30. The reason they waited was that in the beginning, only 1 machine worked that took your pic when you walked in (to assign it to your S&S card). The ship was okay. I understand there isn't a lot of extra $$$ to maintain her, but there was a lot of painting to be done and rust. Our cabin 7298 had a wrap around deck with paint chips all over it, alot of them. I had to watch our 2 yr old because white paint chips on a deck intrigued him. On Monday I hopped out of bed to step into wet carpet. All along the outer wall on the carpet was soaked. Turns out there was snow accumulation against the outside wall and it leaked into our room. So they got their dryers and such and cleaned it up. I had to kick them out at 10pm since it was waay past baby bed time. Tues our toilet wouldn't flush, they fixed that with some banging outside our room for about 2 hours. Wed my parents room had a drain backup under the sink and nastiness was all over their bathroom. Wednesday night I went into our closet (which was huge btw) and stepped into more slop. Our carpet was now soaked in there (so was our luggage). This was caused by some plumbing leak. So again came out the dryers. Thursday toilet broke. Quick fix this time. So, what I can say, is our cabin steward was very good, as well as the waiters, the food was excellent...I've had better cruise directors by far. We did honestly have a good time but just got a really bad room. I do think they could improve things a bit...even later in the week, my next door neighbor's balcony sprinkler system drained all day on their deck which made it wet everywhere. They said the pipe froze and they had to bleed it. Listen, this cruise was really cheap and I guess overall it was a good value if you can look past these inconveniences and bad weather. I am a positive person, and appreciated that they credited us $107 for our trouble but I think they could have done more or maintained the ship better so these things don't happen. Some of our family was on Deck 1 and the carpets in the hallway down there looked pretty stained up. Maybe the other ships I had been on were newer.
