THE AMAZING OASIS!
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)
Booked a year in advance and while we waited we researched and learned as much as we could about the Oasis, but nothing prepares you for the WOW statement you will repeat over and over as you discover this ship. We actually gave up trying to count the number of times we said it ! The technology and the unparalleled design of this ship has made this Oasis class ship a real winner!
We are Diamond Members and have sailed every class of ship in the fleet, enjoying each class for what it has to offer. The Oasis just brings it to a newer level of what cruising can offer. Listed below are our thoughts and impressions of just how RC has improved the cruise experience.
Loved the ease of embarkation and disembarkation - it really is quick and effortless. On and off the ship in 15 minutes. Ports of call. down the escalator and out the security check in a flash, no lines. Just press the gangway button in the elevator.
Not crowded at all and we were at full capacity. More Elevator wait time really non existent.Neighbourhood design manages the number of passengers well. Rising Tide Bar a favourite to get to where you would like to go. Number of choices of where to eat again another unique crowd managing strategy.
Food - RC has raised the bar here too. Tried them all, I loved the healthy choices especially the Solarium Bistro for Breakfast and Lunch, DH liked the Windjammer. Always found a table. Park Cafe was our favourite. MTD was great, never waited in line, always the same table and wait staff. Wonderful service every night. We will always do MTD . Room service always prompt and we used it daily for morning coffee and juice. Johnny Rockets for breakfast good too. Staff dance away for you even early in the morning. Try the hamburger and egg breakfast!
Entertainment - Top Notch, best we have ever seen . All shows are not to be missed and should be seen more than once if you can manage your schedule. Again RC has done their research here. WOW! Don't miss the clubs as they have first class musicians. Catch the guitarist Wilfred wherever he is and the Piper that wanders the ship.
Cabins - Nice newer design. A woman had to design the bathroom area. Storage fine, Move the coffee table on the deck or in the closet to gain more space. The beds were so comfortable and balcony furniture another step up. Size was fine for two in our D8, would be difficult for more than that.
Diamond Member Lounge - Each night in the Blaze nightclub. Free drinks and nice appetizers before dinner was a favourite stop for us. Cannot leave the club with your drinks like other cruises we have been on. Yes all mixed drinks were available and complimentary.
We immediately booked another cruise on the Oasis for July 2010 only one week after we returned home. Could not do it all in just 7 days and we look forward to exploring the Oasis and what we missed because there just isn't enough time to get to all that she has to offer in just one week. Cruising on this resort was fun, exhausting and a pleasure. The Oasis exceeded our expectations and then some. WOW Less
