Let me start with our first and second cruise with Carnival. Both cruises were great and wanting to go back with them and cruise again soon. Then we booked a western cruise with Carnival's DESTINY, 5 nights leaving Jan. 25 2010. Two days before we were to leave, we received a call from Carnival saying the Itinerary has been changed because they were having a problem with the propulsion system on the boat! We were no longer going to grand Turk, they said we will now be going to free port! Huh????? There is a difference of 800 miles or so, and they said they would give us only a 50 ship board credit each. SO Disappointed.....but what were we to do? All of us had arranged to get work off and had booked this trip way in advance. SO NOT FAIR! Anyhow, we ended up going of course, and things kinda got worse from there! When we were doing the "embarkment thing" we had to fill out a sheet as to any sickness we had like sore throat or cough and such. We thought that was odd as this was our 6th cruise and we had never experienced that before. We were all healthy as a horse,(but I'm sure some people weren't).......get my drift? To make a long story short, we all got sick by the 3 or 4th day with some nasty respiratory thing. We are all still on antibiotics by the way. Makes you wonder when you see smudge and finger marks on the windows on the Lido deck that were still there on the 5th day! By the way, the Lido deck where most people ate, was not the cleanest and the food wasn't really any better. And to make matters worse, the Destiny crew on the Lido deck were the most "UNFRIENDLY". I don't even recall any one of them smiling......and often times I had to take away old dishes myself off the tables so we could have room to eat! I will say,our rooms were very nice and clean and our room Stewart was very friendly. Its interesting to read other reviews to see that Destiny has had ship problems for some time. This has turned us off cruising with Carnival, and these matters should be looked into. Future cruisers beware of these problems!"Disaster on the Destiny"
