Sail Date: Jan 2010
Cabin: Aft-Facing Balcony

Background: This was DH's and my 13th sail with NCL and this time we decided it was long overdue to try Norwegian Dawn. Everyone said we would love her and the crew and we did. Previously we have sailed Norwegian Sky, Pearl, Jewel, and Star. (We do not sail any other line.)

Prior to Embarkation: We arrived late in the evening having left our home to fly to Seattle on Horizon Air and then a direct flight in the afternoon on Alaska Airlines. Not wanting to wait for the shuttle van, we got right into a taxi and 10 minutes later we were at the Hilton by the bay. We had a lovely view from the 17th floor of the port and part of downtown, but we didn't spend much time in the room. The next morning we hit the people mover and headed to Bayside Mall where we literally spent the day and evening (met up with friends for dinner).

Embarkation: We arrived about 11:15, prepared to wait for our little BA for an hour or so. We went to the Gold Latitudes desk to check in, gave passports and credit card info, got pictures taken and then the man at the desk went to get our key cards. He came back and said he had good news and bad news and which did we want first. I hadn't done anything yet to put me in the naughty room, so I was really confused. We started to follow him when I finally asked for the bad news; he said we had to walk a ways. Okay, so what's the good news and into the VIP lounge we walked. Seems our Fairy Godfather was watching over us and had arranged for us to have VIP service for the sail. Wow! Did that ever make our day! So with that, we met up with our Concierge, whom we've worked with before, Anshuman Sumbli, and headed to our little BA. As our cabin was not yet ready (although it looked like it), we stowed our bags and headed up to the pool deck for the drink of the day (which was delicious!). We headed to Cagney's for a delicious lunch and then strolled back to our cabin which was ready. Again NCL is learning all the time and we WERE totally unpacked (including our bags delivered to our cabin) long before muster. We had pre-ordered some wine, so with sail away approaching we popped the cork and made a toast to the coming days of sun and fun! Our cabin stewards, Jose Cuasay and Lucy Hernandez were fabulous; our wishes, though few, were granted immediately and our room was always ready for us no matter how short of time we were away.

Cabin Review

Aft-Facing Balcony

Cabin B1

If you like to listen to the wake and have peace and tranquility, aft is for you. The BA is a little larger than most balcony cabins and the view is tremendous. For a 7-day or less trip, this cabin is great for one or two people. There is adequate storage in both the bathroom, closet and drawers/shelves.
