This was my third cruise and my friend's first. She wanted to book our next cruise on board--that is a resounding endorsement since she didn't think she would like cruising. She and I flew to San Juan from BWI on AirTran. A little disappointment here. We originally had a nonstop flight which was changed to a layover in Orlando. We landed in San Juan at 6:30PM and we were created by a blast of hot, humid air. After leaving 20 degrees it was a shock. We stayed one night in Old San Juan at the Milano. I can't say the hotel was great, but it was clean and in the heart of Old Town. There is a great hop on hop off bus service in Old Town so we were able to see much of it before heading to the ship at 2:00PM on our second day. Boarding the ship was fairly simple. The lines looked long, but they moved fast. The ship is beautiful. Our cabin was an inside cabin(I have only had balcony cabins in the past). It was small which is what I expected. Our room steward really did take care of everything without our having to ask. We chose to sit at a table of 12 for the evening dining. It turned out to be a great choice. We sat with people from Boston, Indiana, and Canada. All were different and all blended well for enjoyable conversation. The food was good to excellent and the service was first rate. My friend tried the spa and was very happy with her whole body scrub and massage. The pool was never over crowded whenever we went. The entertainment was mostly good. There was one female comedian that was excellent. A male comedian's style was raunchy so we left. We had two enjoyable evenings watching the ship's dancers and singers. There was good music of different varies throughout the cruise. We took excursions at each port since we had never visited these islands before. The only bad tour was The Best of St. Thomas. We pretty much wasted the morning. The driver was not from St. Thomas and couldn't really tell us much. The Best of St. Croix was excellent. The guide has a wealth of information about everything we saw. Off the Beaten Track in St. Kitts was wonderful. I would highly recommend any tour by Greg's Tours. I would like to return to take his rain forest tour. We heard that it was excellent. I still can't believe we went river tubing with Wacky Rollers in Dominica, but it was a hoot. There are lots of guides helping and the river is not over any one's head. The Best of Barbados was also very informative and well worth the time and money. All-in-all I would say the cruise was good to excellent. We are considering taking the same ship next year with a different itinerary.
