Ship: If anyone enjoys the very large ships then they should think carefully before booking on the Sky. This is the oldest ship on NCL line and I believe is the smallest. We got onboard and saw the entire ship in about 1 hr.
Embarkation/Disembarkation: Easy and fast on both occassions. We were sailing with the group 'Groove Cruise' and even with their members lack of preparation during disembarking, we were off the ship by 10:00am.
Cabin: We booked an Oceanview and it served it purpose. The room was clean but showing the age of the ship. Plenty of room to store your items for a three and/or four day cruise. The bathroom has plenty of shelves to store the necessity items. The shower is round and for the ladies you might have an issue shaving. I just used the toilet and solved the issue.
Passengers: It seems this itinerary, Nassua and Great Stirrup, passenger demographics change on a weekly basis. We had a large younger crowd of about 750 that were on board from the Groove Cruise. This group came on to party and it felt like Spring Break. There were about 50 children on the ship and they didn't get to enjoy the pool due to the lack of clothing, partying, and smoking that was occuring on the main deck. Definitely check with TA on the average age and validate if there is a large group on the ship. Weekday sailing is better for relaxation than the weekend.
Food: Average.. Nothing exciting. We ate at the main dining room and never had a wait. The waiters pushed the bottle water at every seating. The buffet had plenty of fresh fruit and salad fixings. During the dinner there was one carving of meet. First night was roast beef, second was chicken, third was turkey. Desserts were nothing to write home about. We did not experience any of the speciality restaurants.
Staff: Cruise Director, Mark, was awesome and you could see that he enjoyed his job. The staff was friendly and it was obvious they were exhausted from the demands of the Groove Cruise customers.
Entertainment: Evening shows were entertaining, but definitely not Broadway. We had a stand up comedian that is a professional seen on HBO, and after 15 minutes his jokes became repetitve and boring. The last night the Cruise Director, Mark, and his team did the 'Fountain' presentation. It was awesome and Mark went over and above what I have seen on another NCL ship.
Ports: Took a tour of Nassua and Atlantis. Enjoyed our tour guide that we picked up at the pier, unfortunately not enough time at each stop. Shopping is as expected. Remember to negotiate in this port and you should be able to get everything at 50% off the asking price.
Weather: Our weather on the first day was sunny and warm. Perfect weather for exploring Nassua. Seas were calm until the next day at Great Stirrup Cove. Tendering for the private island was a challenge and stopped at 2pm. As the sea got rough, tendering was a challenge to get all customers back on the ship. The return to Miami was rough sailing.
I will return to sail with NCL but not on the Sky.
