Information about us: Husband and Wife (27 and 26 years old), married 6 years, 3rd Cruise with Carnival.
Before Cruise: We flew into Orlando Airport on Friday January 22nd, Flew Northwest from Minneapolis, good straight through flight. Rented a Car from Enterprise (found them to have the best price, and no transfer fee to Cape Canaveral). Spent the Night at the Radisson Resort at the Port, had nice rooms, good accommodations. After checking into our room my wife and I drove to Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, drove on the Black Point Wildlife Drive. Very neat drive, great picture opportunities, very nice and relaxing, after this we went back to the Radisson, and decided to eat at a little pizzeria by the hotel called Kelsy’s. Great food, would recommend this as a place to eat. Woke up the next morning, and had breakfast at the Radisson, good buffet, not quite like the cruise, but good. Took the car to the Enterprise location, and got there free shuttle service to the port to get on the ship.
Embarkation: What a breeze, Enterprise dropped us off right at port next to the luggage handlers, we than went in, and proceeded with embarkation, we were on the ship by 11:45 am; we were told our rooms would be ready at 1:30pm. Went to the Lido deck to check out the ship, found our way to the Adults only Serenity Area, here they had great love seats, hung out here and had a drink to celebrate the starting of out cruise. After this we got lunch, and went and checked out our room and balcony. Had a room on the 10th deck, port side room 10240, it was a great view, and was a nice room. Night One: We had 8:15 Late Seating in the Upper Scarlet Dining Room. On this cruise, I have to say we had the BEST wait staff ever. Head Waiter was Gerald (just started new contract, 19th year with carnival), assistant was Cristina. Both were very good, Gerri loved Michael Jackson, and would dress and dance like him for the dinner performances. He also performed several tricks for our table, and did an excellent job. Thumbs up to the lobster night, and also the Cold Cream Soups, my wife loves these, and the best dessert ever the Chocolate Melting Cake. Also meet our room steward (Randall), I think he was one of the best room stewards we have ever had, did a great job, and talked to us all the time, he too just started a new contract this week. Went to the Welcome aboard show, kind of the same a before, but as always, great dancing, and singing.
Day Two: FUN DAY AT SEA: Great Weather, Sunny, and Nice, had breakfast in the scarlet dining room, would recommend this, great hot food, and great service. Played in a Couples Bean Bag Tournament, and my wife and I won it, good games throughout the Fun Day at Sea. First Formal Night, took pictures, and had a great night with my wife. Went the Xtreme Country Show, this was good, had good singing and dancing. Did a little gambling, thought the dealers were always in a good mood, and had a good time.
Day Three: COZUMEL: Woke up, and went to sit down breakfast in the scarlet dining room, and then found out our Twister Boat Ride to Isle De Passion was cancel due to the high wind, caught a cab down town to do some shopping , and drink some Corona, made it into a fun day. Came back to the ship, and then to the show, this was Evolution of Edge. He performed a great show, excellent juggling, and performance. Off to supper, and then to check out the new Comedy Club, saw Tony Esposito, very very funny, awesome thing that Carnival has added was the Comedy Club.
Day Four: ISLA ROATAN: Booked an Excursion to go to Tabyana Beach, had about a half hour bus ride to the beach, very nice beach, a little cold because it was cloudy, but had a great time. Came back to the ship, and went to supper, and then to the best show we have ever seen “Dancing in the Streets” my wife and I have to Vegas and seen many shows, and we feel this was right at the top. Hats off to break dancers, and the strength performers, they really made the show. If you see any shows make sure to see this one.
Day Five: BELIZE: Booked an excursion to do Snorkeling at the Barrier Reef, and Banister Beach Beach, had one of the best times, enjoyed the Rum punch, and the snorkeling was good, and the beach was awesome. Came back to the ship, then went into Belize to do some shopping, not much there, but if you are looking for a Bag or luggage they have it. Back to boat, it is about a 20-30 minute Tender Ride to Belize and back to the boat, good picture opportunity, went to supper, and then to the Bob Brizendine Show, expected more magic, did not enjoy this show that much, hard to top the dancing in the streets performance.
Day Six: COSTA MAYA (FUN DAY AT SEA): Woke up to Windy conditions, saw Costa Maya, and then we could not dock, because the wind was pushing the ship towards the shore too much. Understandable with the 50-60 mph winds that we had, so this turned into a Fun Day at Sea, I THINK TODD (cruise director) DID A GREAT JOB OF ADDING ACTIVITES, AND MAKING CHANGERS, and SEEN HIM ALL OVER THE SHIP MAKING SURE PEOPLE WERE ENJOYING THEMSELVES. Thanks to Carnival for the extra $20 per person the Captain gave back, I know they do not have to do anything, so this nice for another drink or something. Laid in the sun for some time, never had a problem finding chairs, the Adult Serenity Area did fill up fast. Went to supper, and then to the Get Ready Show, another great show by Carnival, have always enjoyed the shows, well worth seeing them. Day Seven: FUN DAY AT SEA: Just laid in the sun, and enjoyed the last day on the cruise, had some fun in the casino, and then off to supper.
DISEMBARKATION: Yes they start early, we were group 9, off the ship before 8am, get up early to eat breakfast, rented a car to go back to the airport, Enterprise picked us up right at the Port, and shuttled us the satellite location to pick up the car. Very easy to deal with, would recommend them to anyone.
WRAPUP: We were worried about some of the first reviews about smells, and issues people had. I think people decide how their vacation will turn out; you have to learn to not sweat the small stuff, because it is all just small stuff. Anyway we never once experienced any smells. Boat did make some noise at night when it was rocking a little, kind of a shutter, but it is a boat, and we had 50-60 mph winds, so we expected some movement. I think the ship handled the winds well overall. We had a great time on our Cruise, we would cruise on the Dream again, and definitely on Carnival. Remember a vacation will be everything YOU make it out to be.
