We choose this vessel the Azamara Quest because of all the good reviews, size of the ship, and the wonderful ports of call.So to begin our 14 Night Ancient Empires Cruise we flew from Phoenix to Rome arriving at 10:45 am.two days proir to embarkcation. This gave us time to unwind a little in our hotel room, have a very nice dinner in Rome, and a photo oppertunity at night shooting the Trivi Fountain. Next morning the usual tourist sights of Rome mostly the Foreum.Eventually a late afternoon ride to the Port of Civitavecchia.
Boarding this vessel was a breeze and Azamara people were very nice, both in the terminal and once aboard the ship. We were met with soft Harp music and a glass of champagne.Although our cabin was not ready, we were allowed to wander around the ship and have a buffet lunch on the fantail. By the time we finished the cabin was ready and our luggaged was staged outside the door. Within 5 minutes our cabin attendent and bulter introduced themselves and asked if we needed anything. They were very pleasant during the entire voyage, although the cabin attendent did all the work. Truly we had little use for the butler. The entire staff on this vessel was very friendly, which did not seemed faked, but genuwine.
Food: Buffets were good with many choices for breakfast & lunch. Certainly better than other cruise lines we have traveled. Two minor issues: Only 1 omelette station which could be quite busy and by American standards the coffee was not very good. Much better in the dining room. Dinners in the dining room were very good with lots of choices, however this event took 2 1/2 - 3 hours. This made it difficult if you were interested in the ship board entertainment. (early dining) The speciality restaurants were simply outstanding and some of the best meals I have enjoyed anywhere. (don't miss this oppertunity) You must make a reservation and will have a specfic time for your dinner. This is the only time I ate desert. (very sinful)
