Just returned from the Destiny and it was a vacation to remember. We sailed with another couple who had never cruised before and that made the trip fun. We have cruised eight times before on several other cruise lines and I have to say Carnival is still our favorite. We splurged and got a suite and boy was it worth it! I would highly recommend a suite for families traveling with children. After reading some other reviews about Destiny I was concerned that the Destiny would not live up to expectations. The ship was big, clean and nicely decorated. The food was good but, as some other reviews eluded to the lines at the buffets were sometimes long. We found that our best bet was to go to the dining room for sit down service. The other problem we noted to be true from other reviews was the lack of deck chairs. At times we had to lay on the deck until chairs opened up. Our cruise was supposed to go to Key West but, we were notified by an automated call the night before sailing that this would not be possible due to technical difficulties. We later found out from the staff that this problem was not new and had caused previous cruises to miss other ports of call. This is not what I expected from Carnival. The monetary compensation for the missed port was inadequate to say the least. All and all, the cruise was very pleasant, the port of Cozumel was outstanding and we had a great time. Our first time cruiser friends were very impressed with the suite and the whole cruise experience. Our family had just gone on the Pride in April 09 and that ship was never and nicer. We really missed the supper club experience.
