We Left as First-Timers and Came Back as Cruise-Addicts!

Sail Date: January 2010
Destination: Bahamas
Embarkation: Baltimore

Our first cruise was just amazing. We sailed out of Baltimore on January 10, 2010 and had an amazing time.

Here are some of our experiences:

Embarkation was a breeze! After we dropped our bags off with the porter and parked our vehicle, we were through security and waiting in Zone 6 to board by 11:15 AM. By 1:00 PM we were already on the Lido Deck with our first Drink of the Day and having lunch lunch.

We were in our very spacious cabin, checking out our extra extended balcony by 3:30 PM. I was amazed at the closet space!! Our room steward, iGusti, took very good care of us all week.

We found the ship to be clean, the service was wonderful and all of the crew were friendly and helpful.

We were not fans of the main dining room and we ate most of our meals from the Mermaid Grill. I would rate the food from "OK" to tasty but we never went hungry and we always found something to our liking. We NEVER missed a meal and I'm still craving a More cheeseburger from the "Grille". The DH is still wandering around the house looking for the 24-hour soft-serve ice cream. You do get spoiled!

We did self-assist debarkation and it would have been very easy too if we hadn't over-packed! But we managed to haul all of our luggage off the ship and through customs without mishap. We were off the ship by 10:15 AM and home by Noon. You just can't beat that!!

While we don't have another cruise to compare this to... we thought for the price, ports and service it was a great deal.

We loved our cruise on the Pride so much that we have booked another one for February 2011, on the same ship, doing the same itinerary and we even got the same cabin. We just an't wait to get back on the Pride! Less

Cabin review: Carnival Pride Balcony Verandah 7258

Cabin No. 7258 is a "triple" balcony for an extended balcony price. It is classified as an 8K and it was awesome! There is a storage room next door and it was a bit noisy the first night but we had no problems the rest of the trip. Located just off the elevators and stairs, it was just seconds away from the Lido deck. Excellent room, awesome balcony, and prime location! We loved it!

Port and Shore Excursions

We did the Jeep Adventure while in Freeport and we had a great time. Freeport is not a very exciting island but what we saw was very beautiful. We saw lots of sites, different beaches, and we had a wonderful lunch at Garden of the Groves. This is advertised as a "light snack" but it was actually a choice of sandwiches, a bag of chips, and a beverage. Very tasty lunch in a gorgeous setting! We loved this.

Taino Beach was beautiful, the Red Mangrove Swamp was something to see and if the weather had been better, this would of probably been our favorite part of the trip!

We enjoyed Nassau very much. We did the "Beach Day Excursion" through the ship to Atlantis. While we loved Atlantis, next time, we won't do this through the ship. We wasted a lot of time waiting to leave to go to the resort and then be shuffled around by the Atlantis employees during our 10 minute walk through the resort to the beach we were to use. We will definitely do this on our own next time to save money and time!

If you are at Atlantis, have lunch at Shark Bites! The fish and chips were so fresh and delicious and we enjoyed the conch fritters as well!

After we left Atlantis, we walked a couple blocks close to port in Nassau, visiting the Straw Market and other gift shops. We finished our day at Senor Frogs drinking Bahama Mamas and enjoying the site of the Conquest and Pride in Port.

We just loved this day!

We rented a car online through Budget while in Florida and you can't beat the service! They picked us up right at the port and within 10 minutes we were at the Service Center, completing our paper work and driving away! We drove around Cocoa Beach for a bit, visited Jetty Park for awhile and then spent the rest of our day at Kennedy Space Center.

Beautiful area and I am looking forward to visiting there again.
