Sail Date: June 2009
Destination: Baltic & Northern Europe
Embarkation: Harwich

this was our eighth cruise, and was the best, up to now, have a cruise booked in march with celebrity , of course. We sailed on the 13th June from Harwich. this was the first time that we had driven to a home port for embarkation, and it could not have been smoother. in no time we were aboard, and set off to explore the ship. the ship was in perfect condition. the crew were very good, and no complaints about anything. the captain of this ship was the best we have come across, he was a hands on captain, he was everywhere, taking part in events, and being young he seemed to enjoy meeting passengers. he was a breath of fresh air. all the crew were the same, very lively and all doing their work, and still being friendly at all times. this makes for a great atmosphere. the food was great, we went to main dining every day, and had breakfast and lunch at the buffet, or the pool deck. the entertainment was varied, and we always found something to interest us. the ports of call were all so More good, I really think that I would like to do the Baltic again. when sadly we had to leave the ship, once again, so smooth, and well organised, we could not believe just how easy it all went. thank you celebrity

one problem was that we ended up sitting on a table for six, but being on our own for the entire trip.Tthe first eventing a couple joined us, but stated that they preferred buffet dining, so we did not see them again. perhaps we should have asked to be moved, but then should the dining room management have taken care of it? Port and Shore Excursions

Copenhagen, Denmark. this was a great port, there were shuttle buses to the town centre, what a great town, we took a city tour bus, which was a hop on hop off, we also went an a boat trip down the canals, and had a great time, with commentary all through the trip. we did not have time to go to the tivoli gardens, as it is hard to fit in all the sights there are to see in this splendid city.

Helsinki was a beautiful place, we went on the shuttle bus and then walked down through the market which was so different amazing, and then went on a tram to different places of interest. we went to two churches, one an Orthadox, and the other was a Church made out of Rock, it is most unusual, and well worth the visit.

Warnemunde Germany, a good harbour, we walke from the ship to the station, and took a train to Roscof, it was a nice university town, good shops. when you get off the train, you can walk or take a tram, to the town centre. we returned to the ship, and after lunch, had a walk down the the harbour of Waremunde, and the beach, it was very nice.

we took organised trips in St Petersburg, as a visa had to be bought before leaving home, and as this was expensive we thought it was better to be accompanied this proved to be the best choice as leaving the ship from the port, it was quite a way to where we were going, and there are not any hop on hop off buses there.the town is so interesting, and so much to see. we went on a river trip which was great and to the yusupov palace. the next day we went to the winter palace, which has to be seen to be believed, must go again there is so much to see, but not enough time.

Stockholm, Sweden, is of course a big city, we took a trip by boat from the ship into the city, and did a sight seeing trip, which was good. The next day we went on the Vasa museum trip, this is one not to be missed really interesting a great city, could go again.

it was so good at Tallin Estonia, a place which is easily one of the best places to get around. very old, once again can be walked from the ship or use the hop on hop off buses.
