Celebrity has always been one of our favorite cruiselines. We even sailed the Summit a year ago through the Panama Canal and had a great time. However, on this cruise we encountered several things that disappointed us.
1. Our stateroom was often not made up until noon. 2. We never received information that we had the option to have our bags checked in with our airline on the way home. 3. It was like pulling teeth to get the photographer to take a table picture in the dining room. 4. We were never told that gratuities would automatically be deducted unless we told them not to do so. We discovered this too late to change it. We prefer to determine tipping levels ourselves. 5. On the 2nd evening I lost my wedding ring. It apparently slipped of my finger somewhere aboard. I understand that Celebrity is not liable for such things. However, we expected them to make a report and be on the lookout for it. Every day we checked with them they pretended we never told them. When we asked for a copy of the written report for our insurance company they stalled until disembarkation morning and then only gave it to us when we pressured them. They showed a total lack of concern for our loss.
These things may seem minor to some folks and that's ok. However, for us, who have never had a problem with Celebrity before, it was unacceptable. Was our cruise ruined? Of course not. Were the waiters and their assistants terrific? Yes. It's just that a bit of the shine has rubbed off Celebrity in our eyes.
Enough closet space for 2 adults; good shower pressure; smaller than other cabins we have booked; long walk to dining room.
