Westerdam was a delightful ship to cruise on. Food was delicious, cabin was wonderful, the bed was the best we've ever had on a cruise and the ship staff was helpful and courteous.
Our first port was to be Half Moon Cay but because of rough seas we could not tender in so we bypassed and went on to Grand Turk. M group wanted to go snorkeling at Grand Turk and we booked the excursion to Governor's Beach. We were told it would be a 20 minute ride and everything we needed to snorkel would be provided as well as a bar for drinks if we wanted something refreshing. We enjoyed Margaritaville in the morning and met our leader for the excursion to Governor's Beach with high hopes at noon. We were driven 5 minutes at the most, then turned around and drove down a short lane to the beach past old and run-down shacks. Upon arrival, we found all the snorkel gear was in huge cardboard boxes, the staff attending us seemed bored and not happy to have something to do. The beach chairs provided were just haphazardly arranged on the beach and the beautiful beach at Margaritaville was just 100 yards (at the most) to our left. We could have walked! The staff in charge of Governor's Beach acted totally unprofessional, as one was even making out with her boyfriend on the picnic table. We were very disappointed and felt it was a waste of money and time.
This was our only downside to the cruise as Grand Cayman and Cozumel were fine and we had a good time. Trolley Roger in Grand Cayman was nice and our guide was very informative.
Our cabin 4166 was great. Did not realize there were drawers under the sofa and under the end of the bed till our 5th day. Would have been nice to know this when unpacking. Bathroom was nice size, closet space for hanging clothes was adequate. Nice having the safe to use.
