Our first of many!

Sail Date: December 2009
Destination: Other
Embarkation: Mumbai (Bombay)

We have listened for many years to friends who are 'hooked' on cruising, and felt that it was probably not for us. Would we be bored with the 'at sea' days? would we fit in with the other cruisers? what would the food be like? would we be seasick? Any excuse really - that was until we decided to take the plunge and try a Silversea cruise following a week in northern India.

From the first moment we got onto the ship we were so relaxed and happy that it seemed a shame to get off and spend a week in the Seychelles over Christmas! The quality of everything on board was excellent, the fellow cruisers were a delightful bunch, the food was out of this world, the crew were helpful and obliging, our cabin was perfect - what more can I say! Well, what I can say is that we booked another cruise for 2010 before we had even left the ship. Yes, we have caught the bug.

Cabin was very satisfactory with a small, but adequate balcony. The location was very good, not at all noisy and More as it was a forward facing cabin we were very happy. The walk-in closet was quite small, but again adequate, and the bathroom was very usable, except that it was a little difficult to get past the shower screen to turn the bath taps and shower on. However, this was no great problem and we would choose this cabin again at any time. It was also very handy for the launderette, which was just down a nearby flight of stairs. Less

Port and Shore Excursions

This is the only port on the drop down list, and we had a wonderful day trip round the city. Colombo was another stop, and that also was a very interesting day. As we are more into seeing the cities than doing activities, we were fascinated by the ways of life in the different cities.

Male in the Maldives was very, very hot, but we had a reasonable tour guide who showed us some of the everyday life there - including the fish market! The islands in the Seychelles were just beautiful, the beaches a dream with lots of opportunities to swim and snorkel. We disembarked at Mahe, and had a very extensive and informative trip around the island before staying at the Banyan Tree for a week over Christmas.
