Embarkation was extremely stress free in Port Canaveral. The Ship is much larger than the Conquest Class and holds some 1000 more people than it's predecessor class, but has the same amount of Elevators. During peak times, trying to get an elevator on this ship is next to impossible. Hooray for a larger Promenade and Atlantic Dec with a nice flow through. Very little smoking allowed inside so it was a pleasure for us as non-smokers! The Water slides and Splash park are extremely entertaining for kids and adults alike. Ironically there are no long line ups for the slides. Outside Lido Deck, like the Splendor is 2 tiered and offers better outside dinning or lounging options though it would of been nice to have the Splendor's retractable roof for rainy days. Casual Dinning is overcrowded always!!! Forget the Mongolian Grill unless you want to wait over 45 minutes in the line-up. Past Cruisers always complained about Lido Deck line-ups. This cruise adds 1000 extra people and really does not address the proble, it made it worse. The shows were terrific! Again, to get a seat in the main Encore Theater arrive 45 minutes before the show starts. The ship decor is beautifully bright throughout. The hallways are identical to the Splendors 1940's nostalgia. We had a balcony stateroom and Carnival has done away with some of the clutter furniture placing the flat screen directly on the wall. Housekeeping and dinning staff were wonderful - very prompt and attentive. Our biggest pet peeve was Camp Carnival. We had memos illustrating the food choices and activities for the young ones, only to find out that they had no choices and were given cold food. Our kids have been on 4 cruises in the past 2 years and were totally disappointed with the staff, activities and food that they begged us not to go. There is nothing more disappointing than telling your child they are playing all kinds of video and trivia games tonight only to find out that they were forced to sit down and watch a movies, and so forth... Needless to say they stooped going after the 3rd day. Camp Carnival seemed to be crowded and the staff appeared to be overwhelmed to the point of arrogance. We will be cruising in the Sailing again, but on a smaller ship.
