This was our 14th cruise, our third on Princess Cruises. We have actually been on this cruise ship a few years ago, but since then, the ship has received an update.
The itinerary included stops in Aruba, Bonaire, Grenada, Dominica and St. Thomas. Again, a great itinerary, although, could have used a little more time in Bonaire. The weather (week for 12/6/09), was beautiful, sunny with a little breeze.
We traveled with our 12 year old son. Princess' children's program for his age (8-12) was not ideal and frankly filled with frustration. We found their program to be very regimented and mostly geared for the younger kids in this age group. In the evenings (after 7 pm), most activities consisted of movies. When asked if our son could take advantage of the PlayStation or Wii rather than the movie, he was denied. It was the movie (or whatever activity was scheduled) or nothing. In addition, my son would have preferred an arcade, which the older group (13-17) had, but because he was 12, he was again denied access. There was half court basketball and movie under the stars which are nice additions. However, if you are family traveling, you should look at Royal Caribbean. There, there is full court basketball, dodge ball and other children activities, roller skating, ice skating, mini golf, a walk/running track, arcade - for all ages and parades.
Room was fairly small. Our room attendant could have done a better job. We have experienced better service in the past. Small shower. Great balcony that offered privacy from the 11th floor.
