Horror of the Seas
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Port Canaveral (Orlando)
My vacations started with a nice trip from MCO to Port Canaveral using Carnival transportation, which was very efficient. The embarkation process was a breeze, then I headed to the Lido at 11am and the food was OK. At 1:30pm went to my stateroom #1255 in the Riviera deck, which seem perfect for me. I got ready to go dining at the Crimson,it was my first time on "YOUR TIME DINING", what a horrible experience, first of all I was sitted in a table with three couples, two were very nice but the third ones were the most disrespectful and rude people I have ever met in my life asking a lot of personal More questions, then the waiters completed the evening by forgetting the food I order after waiting for more than 1 hour. They felt very stressed out and wanted to rush you through the whole dinning experience, what a waste of time. I don't understand what is the point if you're traveling in a "FUN SHIP" and you take vacations to rest and have a relaxing time to feel rushed in everything you do and in top of that you have to deal with rude people, staff members and waiters. The second night I decided to give the dinning experience a second chance, which I regret until this day. Needless to say, I never return to dine in the Crimson in my whole trip I ate dinner at the Lido. The only positive thing I could recall from my first week was having Dora as a room steward she was an angel everything was top notch. Member reviews that have 1 star, everything they have said is TRUE, believe me I survived this cruise for 14 days. Comments like the sewage smell and "suspicious" smell is true, there is NO PRIVACY in the staterooms they are not soundproof you are part of your neighbors life. Rude, obnoxious and disrespecful people were slamming the doors 24/7, which translates to no sleep time or nap rest so eventually you had sleep deprivation. The Lido lines were very, very long and if you wanted to eat in their specialities you had to wait around one hour. The waiters in the Lido deck look sad, depressed and stressed out with little or none excitement to be working in the newest ship of Carnival, and now I understand why. In many occasions I saw ship officials call the attention of waiters and the waiters eventually so stressed out back taking which I wrote in the ships comments that those are private matters that should be kept out of the public eye. It was really a project to find a table to eat in a nice spot due that like another member wrote, smokers were smoking everywhere without any type of consideration.
I am still trying to analize where the ship stabilizers were, because that ship rocked like a hammock. The second week on room 11275, which I am warning never, ever book this room, it's HELL. In the outside of this room there is a exit door that people slam 24/7 and it is parallel to the bed so every 30min, somebody slams the door which rocks the room. In the entertainment department the comedians made a fool of themselves not being funny, with racist and obnoxious comments. In the shows, I would only recommend the Dancing in the Streets, the others were a waste of time and you had to be there one hour before the show to find a seat. In the shore excursion department, they wanted to sell fast, but lack information, patience and tolerance being rude in occasions. I would have love to go to the piano bar, but as I have said before, smokers were everywhere and can ruin a healthy cruiser's vacation, especially if you are an asthmatic person. I didn't change room because as other members have mention the problem is not the rooms, it's the ship itself, every room you go is going to have the rocking, the slamming and the smell and the cruise was fully booked. I regret not doing what another member review couple did in St. Thomas when they got off the ship, but I had plans in Orlando after the cruise and besides that, I didn't know that was a possibility. To late I can only blame myself. In a positive note I have to say that the guest services department was very helpful and respectful, they have an A+. The cruise was such a "joy" that must of the time regardless of the rocking and slamming I was in my stateroom and I saw the shows and programs of the ship in the TV and a big recommendation to Todd the Cruise Director is that when you make the same jokes, comments, tears etc. exactly the same way in two diferent weeks you're lacking "ORIGINALITY", you need to be true to yourself and be spontaneous. On a final note, like so many people have said before, you get what you paid for. This is a life lesson that will help me to never book a cruise with Carnival unless it's for free. Less
