I am sorry to say that I agree with all that was written except about the shore excursions. We did do a couple on our own but found that unless you wanted to rent a car and worry where to park it over night the excursions worked best. Since these were Hawaii based companies, the people were friendly and knowledgeable, going out of their way to help you. They were also sad to hear passengers being upset with the ship/crew as they do take pride in Hawaii and their way of life.
Our main complaint was that we had booked a balcony room on the "Pride of America" but then it sunk, and we now were booked on the "Pride of Aloha". There were not enough balcony rooms to go around so we ended up with a picture window. We asked for "on board credit" as compensation and were told we would be given a credit of $200 for another cruise.... worthless since we will never use them again.
When we got on the ship the other 2 couples in our party were given $100 per person for the change in ship.... when we asked why we did not get this on our statement we were told because we were given the credit for another cruise. All this was done at the reservation desk on the ship by emailing the main office.... we were not allowed to talk to anyone directly!
