We sailed the Liberty with a balcony cabin. Loved the cabin spacious and comfortable, a home away from home. We were on the Lido deck great place to be. The ship was beautiful, colorful and felt like a fairytale world. Service was great, food never a disappointment and always something to do of course. The shows were fantastic, my favorite was the international showcase extravaganza, best I have seen. Costumes were magnificent and colorful and the variety of music and dance was wonderful. Half Moon Cay was our first port and it was very nice. Enjoyed the beautiful beach and a great BBQ lunch, very nice that is carnival's island so it's included. St Thomas was gorgeous, Magens bay was not a snorkel stop but a great beach. Blackbeard's Castle was a great spot we loved the history and mystery of the Pirate theme. Met a local artist at the rum and hot dog stand, he served us, John L. Chinnery. He was friendly and interesting to talk to. We bought a sample of his art in the gift shop on site. My husband had the famous six rum punch at the hotel pub, he enjoyed it very much. We walked the 99 steps thru the adventure and ended in town to shop. I was overwhelmed by the jewelry shops, I was not shopping for jewelry but if you are that's the place. We took the shore excursion "Ultimate Island Tour" which was great however the harbour taxi that takes you back across to the ship was old, stinky and slow, we sat and waited for about 45 mins and no one was happy about it! Next port was San Juan, we booked a private tour with a company called Rocaliza. A group of six including us went from the ship. The guides Marco and Jacob met us across from the pier and took us by van up into the jungle onto private land. There we suited up in harnesses and helmets. We walked up into the lush amazing jungle past a couple residences and to a series of waterfalls we hiked and climbed. I can't really express how amazing this place was. It is an experience I will never forget as long as I live and always cherish. The climb was challenging but invigorating, we never felt unsafe or at risk. Marco and Jacob were kind, considerate and a real pleasure to spend time with. We zip lined 3 lines and hiked back down to the community. There we were served lunch at a private residence by a kind family. we had Jerk chicken, spiced rice, beans, empanadas and cornmeal cakes. The food was delicious and satisfying after our hike. They drove us back to Old San Juan and dropped us at the historic fort at the top of town so we could just walk back down through town. San Juan was full of history, color and culture, an amazing place, great shopping and I hope to return there again. Last port was Grand Turk here we snorkeled it was wonderful. The water was warm and full of life we saw a reef shark very exciting! We spent the rest of the day hanging out at Jimmy Buffet's Margarita ville, a very busy fun oasis. The next day at sea was a much needed rest and we wished we had another. The Liberty was full of activity and fun. really liked Butch the Cruise director, high energy and very funny. We were served free drinks at the past cruiser party which was great. We also attended the farewell party the last night with live music and free drinks again. We purchased the wine package at dinner that worked well, but my husband kept forgetting the coupons. We enjoy getting dressed up and did for dinner every night the dining room was elegant and comfortable and our server very sweet. I did not care for the news broadcasts on the Lido screen everyday, personally I don't want to hear about a bunch of bad news while on vacation. Never watched a movie on it at night but lots of passengers were watching sports events. The ship was clean and well maintained. I am not a smoker so I was disappointed by the fact that the piano bar and other areas were just too smokey for me to take. We enjoyed the Latin band and Karaoke, I was shocked when my husband sang! It was easy to get used to the Liberty and where things were. Our friends had money stolen as well as other passengers we met because they did not lock their safes or left the key where it could be found. We hid ours but found that after a day in port our safe had been opened and my husbands watch band had been adjusted to a different size we were not impressed, BEWARE. The gift shop employed a very rude man and many complaints were made. Overall our vacation was very good I never expect everything to be perfect. Our friends who travelled with us had never cruised before and they enjoyed the trip. I understand why this cruise is so popular but I will not sail on it again I do not like to repeat my trips I always like to go somewhere new and experience different ships. Purchased our cruise certificate on board and look forward to further Caribbean Adventures on the Miracle in 2010!
