ABOUT US: We've taken many cruises over the last 10 years, on a few different lines. We've been on several Norwegian ships, including the Gem and the Pearl, currently their two newest ships. This was our first time on the Star. We are in our 40's, married couple, no kids, professional careers.

The Star is a little older than the Gem and the Pearl but we thought she was a lovely ship and in good shape generally. Our cabin was on deck 11, outside balcony and very nice. No complaints on cabin service - our stewards were delightful. The layout is a little different from the Gem and the Pearl with a few more tucked away places. We loved the Pub on deck 7 and also the Soho restaurant, both things the newer ships don't have.

We had been to all of the ports before, so didn't take any ship's tours or do much in the way of excursions. This was a trip away for us to relax and enjoy wining and dining. The Panama Canal, if you've never done it, is fantastic and we had a great guide from the Canal authority on board giving us narration all the way through. The other ports were Cartagena, Colombia - Puntarenas, Costa Rica - Huatulco, Acapulco and Cabo San Lucas in Mexico. There were plenty of sea days which we enjoy.
