We sailed out of San Jaun on the Serenade of the Seas. It was a wonderful cruise. We have cruised 7+ times usually in early December (love the holiday decorations, great deals and smaller crowds.) We had an aft balcony. Very nice room with larger balcony. We had 2 lounger chairs and 2 reg. chairs. Balcony was wonderful. My time dining worked out great for us, the loyalty ambassador made our reservations and remembered our name and cabin number each time we saw her, Ms. Yao was wonderful.
We went on several shore excursions including: Segway tour in Barbados (what a wonderful unexpected experience! Really recommend it. The only bad thing was the long ride to the site (45 minutes!). Had a great time on the Shadowfax Champagne and Lobster cruise in Grenada (word of warning the Rum punches pack quiet a punch-got a bit tipsier than I had planned! embarrassing!) Miss the St. Maarten beach break just ok. Not really into full frontal nudity. To each his own but was a bit disconcerting. Antigua sightseeing tour just ok shouldn't stayed with planned Creole Cruises, oh well tried to save money. Snorkel trip the the Bath in Virgin Gorda was the highlight of the cruise, fun walking through boulders, fantastic snorkeling--we even saw sting ray's.
Night before cruise we stayed at the Intercontinental, very nice beach had dinner at the beach side casual restaurant, very nice. Publix shopping center near by (you can see it from the upper hotel floors but you have to walk all the way around past chili's)
Serenade is a very nice ship, quieter than the other ships, not much night life but with an island every day your too tired to stay up late (or at least we were). Portofino's was wonderful Eden is a great server, Chop's completely missed the mark. Loved the Sea View cafe-you order sandwiches (no surcharge) never crowded and had great Reuben's. Food in windjamer fine, really enjoyed the made to order omelets. Breakfast in the room just okay but nice as a wake up call. Crew very friendly, Canadian Captain and Cruise Director
Noticed some cost cutting but in the economy who isn't, nothing really affected us, got a great deal so we were happy. All in all fabulous experience for a great price. Christmas decorations we a bit lame. But overall a beautiful ship.
