I will be comparing this ship to the Golden Princess, that my wife and I disembarked, just before boarding Mariner (back to back). I was very concerned with RCCL's decision to bring an old ship to the west coast. Why not follow Carnival lead and bring out a brand new ship? Anyway, the ship is actually in very good condition, with 3 exceptions: The carpet. Over the entire ship, the carpet is old and stained, they were replacing some of it but they have a long ways to go. The Wooden Handrails. Many of these handrails are missing and have been replaced with yellow caution tape though out the ship The Old TVs. These tv's are probably 15", old and big.

Except for these items, the ship is very beautiful. A lot of public space. The review:

The Good: The Ice Show The wide outdoor Promenade Deck, we were able to lay down onto a lounge chair a read a book, while watching the sea roil and toil. The Food. Much better than Princess The Dining Room Service. Again it beat out Princess The Clean Windows. This was our 8th sailing on RCCL, and they seem to employ glass cleaners to keep their windows clean. Other cruise lines do not. The Royal Promenade, this is much larger, and works much better then the 'piazza on Golden'. The stateroom. is nice and big, with room for a couch. Christmas Decorations. They did a good job with this. The Beds. Very firm and comfortable
