A week in the sunshine!!

Sail Date: December 2009
Destination: Mexican Riviera
Embarkation: Los Angeles

7 days on the Carnival Splendor and we were delighted with both the ship and the service. Our group of 6 (1 25th anniversary couple, 1 honeymooning couple and 2 single ladies) had a fabulous time. We really enjoyed Puerto Vallarta (Zip line, Jeep Adventure and Tequila tour), skipped Mazatlan and stayed on the ship but Cabo San Lucas was the absolute best ever!!! As a group we did the Land's End Boat, Beach & Shopping tour. It was worth double the $60 per person price.

The service on the Splendor was the best we have ever had (this was our 5th cruise) and this was due to Captain Pagano, Cruise Director Goose Neumann & their staff. Amazing!! As my 20 yr old daughter said, "I would book a cruise just because Goose was the cruise director! He loves what he does and it shows!" We will take this trip again just to be able to visit PV and Cabo again and do more activities.

The cabins were interior (2) and one balcony. Our room was quite clean except for the More last day. The honeymooners were very unpleased with their cleaning staff. We do have to say that dinner in the Gold Pearl dining room was spectacular especially because of Antonio our waiter. He was spot on from the first minute we sat down. He was everything we have come to expect from Carnival and so much more. The other staff were friendly, attentive, caring, looked you in the eye, and generally seemed to love what they were doing. It was a happy boat, both passengers and staff, and it made for a fabulous vacation! Thank you, Carnival Splendor!!! Less

Cabin review: Carnival Splendor Balcony Empress 7347

Average cabin, great location mid ship, mid height, quiet side of ship, near elevators & stairwells.

Port and Shore Excursions

Favorite part of the entire cruise!! We took a catamaran from our ship into the port. Our tour was the Land's End Boat, Beach & Shopping Tour for $60.95 per person. We had a wonderful boat tour out to the Arches & Land's End, then headed into town for some time on the beach and then some went shopping in town. The rest of us returned to the boat a bit early to relax. This was our favorite port by far! We all wanted to return for a week or longer. The folks in town were the friendliest and the most welcoming. Cabo rocks!

We were running low on funds this date and were not impressed with the tour offerings so we stayed on board the ship and relaxed. Two of our party departed the ship, took the trolley to the exit and were greeted with steel walls and soliders with guns. Not exactly inviting so they returned to the ship. All in all, no one in our group can speak to the Mazatlan experience as we did not have one. Others on the ship said it was a fun day.

Interesting big city with a small town feel. Hard to believe there are over 300,000 people living in the area. The tours were very well run. Two of our party of 6 took the Extreme Outdoor Adventure. They zip lined, hiked, rode a burro, saw whales, you name it, they did it. Expensive but once in a lifetime experience.

Two others took the Jeep 4x4 Adventure. Fun ride up into the mountains, small village experience, jungle, tequila factory, local food, good beach experience in town and lots of traffic. (Next time trying to drive 10 jeeps across town during the Festival of Guadelupe should be avoided!)

Last two took a double tequila factory tour. Lots of info and fun experiences, especially the free taste tasting.

We all agreed we would like to return to this port and try other adventures.
