Ship Facts: Monarch of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Monarch of the Seas Deck Plans
Shuttle Getaway
Embarkation: We are diamond members and have a separate check in line. Parked car at 2:10 PM checked in got to cabin and were in Windjammer for lunch by 2:45 pm. Smoothest embarkation ever.

Cabin: Ship is 19 years young, had outside cabin which is 122 sq feet. Fine for a 3 or 4 night cruise. Ship refurbished in 2003 and again 2008. Beds were comfortable and bathroom in good shape except that it is tiny. Pleasantly surprised with how good the condition of cabin. Cabin Steward was excellent.

Food: RCCL is hurting financially with the current economy, they are charging for everything. Menu is not as extensive as it once was, however, the food quality was quite good. Our waiter and assistant waiter were excellent and this also made our dining experience very good. We had my time dining, we booked the same time each night when we got on board and sat with the same people each night. It made the dinners very enjoyable.

Entertainment: My wife went to all the shows and enjoyed them. I only saw the last night show, it was wonderful. The singers and dancers were New York Stage caliber and the audience responded accordingly. Live musicians in other venues on the ship were also excellent and we stopped to listen to them all the time.

Shopping: Shopping on board is a disappointment. Liquor prices were not even competitive with discount liquor stores in Florida, let alone duty free in Nassau. Did not price jewelry as we do not wear much here in Florida.

Debarkation: As a diamond member we walked off the ship at 8AM were out of the parking garage within 20 minutes and home in 2 hours. It was smooth as silk.

Overall impression: If you watch the website or other online sites, there are some excellent deals for this ship. You can't beat the prices, comfortable bed, good food and lots of it, enjoyable entertainment it is too good to pass up. We are ready for our next cruise.
