NEVER EVER AGAIN
Well, where do I start ?? I wished Id checked out this so called cruise ship before we booked it, cos believe me,, if Id known that is was a converted ferry then we would never have booked it!!
We arrived at the port with an open mind,, determined to enjoy the cruise we'd booked for our 30th anniversary,it was blinding obvious that the Island Esccape is deffinately at the lower if not lowest end of the cruise market.
We had booked a balcony cabin,, as it was a special anniversary, when we saw the cabin I nearly cried,, pokey,, smelly,, dirty,, filthy balcony and furniture,, we had to use the towels to sit on the seats as they were so dirty,, mind you the towels were battleship grey in colour and crunchy.
There were no duvet covers on the bed,, but this was such a run down tatty excuse for a cruise ship we thought that was normal?? the covers turned up next day .On looking closer.. there were little bits of More tissue stuffed behind the mirror in the bathroom,, the shelves in the main part of the hutch,,I cant call it a cabin anymore,, sorry,,and behind the pictures on the wall,, do not make the mistake of removing the tissue paper,, its been out there to stop the non stop rattling when the ship is at sea!!
When the ship finally set sail the whole thing shook ,, people walked around like drunks,, although this was not possible as the drinks on board were so watered down it was impossible to get even a little bit tipsy.
It is not possible to walk round this ship ,, theres no promenade deck,, so you have to cut thru the bars and pool area to walk round.. Pool ?? thats joke,, we ve seen bigger ponds!!
The week were on board there were a few children on too,, to be honest they werent a problem, but the last day was first day of school hols and a lot of chidren arrived.,, it was nothing short of BEDLAM,, these kids were left to their own devices by parents who were hell bent on getting drunk,, good luck to them,,, running round pool area,, playing in the lifts and stair wells,,it was nothing short of chaos.
We have no complaints about the trips we did,, on the whole they were very good,,, Sardinia,, Rome, Tuscany,, Menorca,,and back to Palma,, the last day you have to be out of your hutch by 8am,,, yes 8am and luggage by 2am ,, we did hear of a few people having stuff go missing from their luggage,,they assumed the staff had collected it,, when in fact it had been taken by fellow passengers,,, nice eh ??
By the time the last day came round we were desperate to escape.. couldnt stand to be on there any longer and as we had an evening flight we spent the day in Palma ,, it was not possible to have a late check out cabin ,,returning only at the last min to collect our cases. So glad we hadnt booked a 2 week cruise,, cos we d be getting off after one anyway,, couldnt another week ,
This was our first cruise,, to be honest its not put us off,, I just wished we'd checked it out properly beforehand,, should have realised when there were so few pics of the inside of the ship .. the best thing Thomsons can do with it is sink it !!! Like i said,,, NEVER EVER AGAIN ON ISLAND ESCAPE . Less
