Unfortunately this will be our last cruise on RCCL. Never have I been so disappointed in this cruise line. I am glad others have had a good experience on VOS, but this Diamond member did not. Just returned from VOS out of Barcelona, 11/1 sailing. My friend and I are both Diamond and Platinum members and frequently cruise RCCL for years. We have started noticing the quality of service getting poorer and poorer over the years. This year we enticed a friend to join us for a 7 Day Mediterranean. Wow, were we embarrassed. We booked a suite for 3 women. You would have thought given our "status" as well as being in a suite we would have garnered better service. Embarkation was a breeze in Barcelona, but always has been, even before our "status". RCCL has that down. RCCL has finally put in "My time dining" (pretty much years behind the other cruise lines, but finally offers it). It does require you to "pre pay" your gratuities. Our friend traveling with us was inappropriately billed over $800 before we even left by RCCL for these "gratuities". It took her weeks to get the situation rectified. Once you prepay, you loose control of this. and basically you pay extra in advance. Given how port intensive the cruise was, we thought it might be worth it. We had done this on a Princess cruise and loved the way it worked. On Princess we waited once or twice a few minutes, but they did their best to seat you when you arrived. What RCCL DID NOT explain was their program is NOT My time dining, it is RESERVATION only dining. No one explained this to us at any time. The first night we got to the dining room late, 9pm and were seated immediately. Thinking that MTD meant just that (MY TIME DINING) we went the next evening at 8PM only to be told we had to wait until 9pm to be seated. There was no room (RCCL has a very small area reserved for MTD). This was formal night. We asked was there anywhere else in any other dining room we could eat. We were told "the Windjammer". On formal night??? At no point did anyone acknowledge that we were in a suite or our member status. We did speak with the RCCL concierge and the head waiter who did their best to try to accommodate us each night at 8-8:15. One night we were put by the bus boy station, another (our friends birthday night, which we did explain as a special night) we were put by the kitchen. The cruise itself was rough weather, but that was not RCCL's fault. Due to weather we missed a port (Florence) and were told we would be reimbursed port charges and taxes--that never appeared on our bill. The suite was fine, but the rest of the ship was showing a lot of wear and tear. We used the laundry service 2 times. Both times our garments were still wrinkled and in one case still dirty. All in all we decided that the service we received on this cruise was as if we were first time cruisers in an inside cabin, NOT Diamond and Platinum members in a suite. This will be our last RCCL cruise. RCCL no longer rewards it's longtime members taking away some of its original perks such as Concierge lounge on some of its ships and the "discount" book formerly supplied was completely worthless. We were all in all completely embarrassed that we had touted this cruise line to our friend for its service. We won't be cruising with RCCL again.

Cabin Review

Cabin Ste

suite 1324. Nice size. Great location off the elevators, but still quiet. Excellent closet space. The bathtub shower very high and difficult to get into if you are short or even somewhat handicapped. Excellent deck. Very rocky on rough seas if high weather due to location. Suite comes with concierge lounge which is very good. Concierge Carlotta was excellent. Great amenity.
