My husband and I were celebrating our 25th anniversary!! We sailed on Liberty for a week cruise to the Western Caribbean and had a wonderful time. We travel a bunch, mostly to beach destinations, however we had not cruised in about 15 years. Previously we were on 4 cruises all different lines. Carnival did not let us down.
The Liberty was a well laid out, clean, efficient and most of all FUN ship. In general we are not that picky about food, we travel for our jobs and have done all the big fancy restaurants in NY and Chicago so the food is definitely not our major concern. We found that most of the meals were actually very good and well presented. It was always hot and served with a smile. We selected the Your Time dinning and will never go back to a the standard time. It was great, the first night we waited about 10 min but after that we never waited not matter what time we arrived. We sat in 3 different sections and the wait staff was equally as good. We ate at Harry's one night and it was well worth the 30.00 extra dollars. Great meal and nicely done.
Our cabin was great. We had upgraded to a suite and it was great. A bunch of room and storage and everything you could need. I loved the balcony for coffee and mimosas in the morning. The bed was great, slept better than at home. Our cabin steward and helper were wonderful. They were around if you needed them but not intrusive. We had a problem with a lost piece of jewelry, my fault, and the both the security staff and cabin staff were wonderful and helpful. Jewelery found and everything good. We arrived in Miami on Saturday around 12:30, took a taxi to the ship and we were on board and in our cabin by 2:30. We did have the VIP check in because of the suite, but the other line seemed to be moving as well. On the last day we were in group one so our luggage got off, but we stayed on and enjoyed breakfast and got off around 9:30 since our flight was not until 1:30.
In Cozumel we did a the "Cozumel Bar Hop", not through the ship. You can find them on line and what a great time. It was a 5 hour tour around the side of the island that is not to populated. It took you to 5 stops at different bars/restaurants. It was not so much about the drinking but a lot about the island and the history and seeing the unpopulated areas. What views, just beautiful. The tour operator and guide were great. We also shopped some, but returned to the boat about 5:00 or so. We did buy a bottle of vodka at port and took in in a drink bottle on board. No-one questioned it.
In Grand Cayman we took "Moby Dick Tours-Swim with the Sting Rays and Snorkel" again not through the ship but on line. We had a great day. The weather was perfect and the ocean not rough. The guide was informative and fun. On the way back we stopped at a local restaurant right by the pier on the water, I think like Rackers, or something close to that. Was recommended by the tour guide and it was great. Food and drink and a perfect view of the ocean and ship. By the way the tendering was no problem. Walked right on both ways. Got of around 9:00 and returned about 3:00.
Jamaica....we were going to do a beach day as the Sunset Grand in Jamaica but it was raining in the morning so we decided not to spend the money and stay on the ship. I think a lot of people stayed on the ship. It cleared up around noon and we had a nice relaxing day just hanging out at the pool.
We loved the piano bar, so much fun, and the bar in casino was another hang out. We participated in some of the contests and enjoyed watching the others. It was Halloween so the costume contest was a bunch a fun. We meet several people from the CC sight and enjoyed their company. We actually meet a lot of people from other countries, more than we expected, and that was very interesting. We ate at the Sushi bar, the lido buffet, the pizza and the hamburger place and they were all fine. In general we loved the trip and the ship and could not have asked for a better 25th trip. We will cruise again and will not hesitate to use Carnival.
