Let me begin by saying that the Carnival Spirit is a fine ship...the cruise staff were competent and friendly. Our room was clean and well designed; and a variety of entertainment was offered. One would have to out of their way not to have a good time on this 8 day cruise to the Mexican Riviera.
Our cabin was fine...it was in the aft section looking out...balancy
was fine...There were a few "thumps" each morning from the placement of
the deck chairs in the morning but the room was otherwise quiet (we
were on deck 8)...we had plenty of storage space and the bathroom was
certainly large enough...and like everyone else we had a great room
steward...I was especially impressed that he addressed each of us by
our first name and was very engaging...
If, however, you were expecting above average food you would likely be disappointed. The food was...well...marginal. To say it was bad, would perhaps be unfair...
The element of the ship which took getting used to was the decor...very eclectic and a bit over the edge...the interior designs did draw lots of comments...most all were amusing...
In terms of the ports of call...the were fine...but it is clear that Mexico is suffering as are many of her citizens...
So, to summarize, we will probably explore another cruise line the time we curise...but on the other hand, I would not discourage others from giving the Carnival Spirit a try...
