We loved this new ship. This was our 16th cruise so we have become somewhat "opinionated" about what makes for a good cruise. We had exceptional service and food for the entire 13 nights. We boarded the ship around noon after planning our own transportation with another couple from Rome (130euro total) Embarkation was quick and soon eating at the lovely buffet that we enjoyed throughout the cruise.
Our balcony stateroom was very nice. Great bed/pillows and balcony seemed ample. Bathroom was also larger with glass shower doors. I missed a makeup (magnifier mirror) at desk. Not a lot of drawers but there was storage above the bed. It was a little difficult to reach, but worked.
The food was pretty good in dining room - not always the best. However, we always left full so can't complain. Enjoyed Oceanview Cafe on deck 14 - had great selection and accommodated all the people. Never had problems waiting for food or a table. The pasta and omelette stations were wonderful. The room service had more options for breakfast - including hot breakfast - not just the continental options. Enjoyed room service on mornings when leaving early for ship excursions.
Attended some of the night shows but pretty tired after port days so didn't make it to all of the shows. Especially enjoyed Fox News on the t.v. and all the choices for free movies in our cabin. Our cabin was so nice we stayed there more than previous cruises. That was nice after a long day in port! The staff was friendly and service was fabulous.
We did not use any ship excursions but booked our own with advice from cruise critic. Many of the ports we had already visited. Had great private tours at lower prices and flexible with our requests. Takes a little research, but worth the savings! We rented a car at the port when we disembarked and headed for the Amalfi coast for 4 days enjoying more good food...
