Old ship - good trip
Mobile was a great port to sail from. It was a convenient drive for us. The Renaissance Hotel has an awesome package to stay overnight and park your car during the cruise. We could have taken the shuttle to the pier, but we just dropped off our luggage, parked back at the hotel, and walked the two blocks back.

Check-in was slightly above average compared to our other cruises - of course, that may have been because it was our first trip with just 2 of us.

The buffet was only average - I think that here was where we first saw the effects of the age of the ship. The service area was small and not laid out nearly as well as more modern ships. The food was adequate, but not stellar in the buffet line.

The dining room also felt small - again, part of the ship being older. The staff was very courteous and efficient. Our team was not nearly as friendly as some we have had in the past, but that wasn't a major problem. The food was good - we don't expect Carnival to be as "luxurious" as some other lines. We were pleased with the choices each night.

We had an inside room on the Main floor - it was the perfect size for our needs. The room staff kept it quite clean. However, the age of the ship definitely began to show more here. The water pressure was horrible - barely enough to get wet in the shower. Also, we felt a constant vibration throughout the ship, but especially sleeping. The engines weren't quite as smooth as newer ships we had sailed.

During the trip, we notice several places on the ships with very bad odors. Not sure what was the cause, I'm guessing poor ventilation/plumbing issues. Again, I would attribute the overall problem to the age of the ship.

The entertainers were awesome for a cruise ship. The cruise directors were okay.

Debarking was the best we ever experienced. We did walk off. Since we were on the Main deck, we were dismissed first. We proceeded off the ship, through customs, and back to our parking garage in less than 20 minutes.

We would definitely do a 5 day Mobile cruise again - it worked well for us having only a week of vacation! We will, however, make sure that we are on a new ship.
