Vaction on the Freedom October 2009

Sail Date: October 2009
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

My wife and I are both 46 years old and to celebrate our 18th anniversary we wanted to take the Freedom to Jamaica and the Grand Cayman Islands. We flew in to Fort Lauderdale out of St Louis MO,on Southwest air line total cost 486 dollars round trip for both us on October the 3rd and had a room at the Sleep Inn in Dana Beach cost 81 dollars booked through AAA.We called the hotel for a free shuttle when we got our luggage and only waited about 15 minutes before they got there. Our room was great the pool was great the Italian restaurant across the street was great. The free breakfast the next morning was awesome not just donuts. They had a waffle grill and batter made up bagels biscuit and gravy all sorts of danishes donuts cereal fruits and fruit juices ext.We then caught the 11 o'clock free shuttle and went to the ship and was there in ten minutes or so.Then we stood in line for and hour and five minutes

Got on the ship and to the cafe at 1205.Food was good couldn't go to our More rooms till 130 didn't get our luggage till around 4.Did the mustard drill walked around checked it out.Dinner was great we had a four seat-er table with a couple from Kentucky and we became great cruise friends. Then that night we did some gabling at the 21 table won about 70 dollars but lost it back and then some the next few nights.Plaid bingo and went to some of the shows the comedian was good the show about New Orleans was not our thing.Pool always closed early and slide was almost never open (windy).

Our cabin 8341 was in the middle of the ships inside on the 8th deck. This was our first cruise on carnival and with this size room I will never go back to the tiny rooms on royal Caribbean. Our room was nice size and the storage was very adequate. When we got to our cabin we found it stocked with razors shampoo,we even had the robes to ware and a little fridge.

We had a great time this was a good cruise

Out of the three cruises that we have been on, this was hands down the nicest cleanest ship and the friendliest crew ever.I would recommend this cruise and the sleep inn and turtles turtles turtles deluxe and the Jamaican bliss tours @876-776-4634 ask for tony (bright light)Awesome mon. Less

Port and Shore Excursions

This was our third trip to Key west, so we just shopped at a few of the shops. Then we walked around exploring the sights,we seen the ancker from one of columbus's ship.Seen a little history and had a beer at sloppy Joe's.Just a nice relaxing tour.

Jamaica,on this port we chose to use a private company for our excursion. We chose Jamaican Bliss.Tony(bright light)and his wife Sharon we're our tour guides. They we're great at protecting us from the local sells people(very pushy.)We didn't know where to go or what to do so we said we only wanted to spend 120 dollars total that's 60 each.Bright light said no problem mon we show you a good time.So first we went to Dunn-river falls. They paid our way into the park(45 for the 3 of us)We down to the bottom of the falls swam took pictures and hung out a while. We then went back to the van and bright light took us all over the island showing us all the different fruits, trees and plants.Sharon said it would be impossible for someone to starve in Jamaica and I believe it the avocado the grapefruit oranges coffee all kinds of nut the lists goes on and on. Next we went to a beach and hung out with some locals our guide friends and we had a blast learning to dance Jamaica stile and snorkeling. On the way back to the ship bright light took us by and showed us Kieth Richard house from the rolling stones. We had a very good day.
