Even though the Majesty will soon be leaving the NCL fleet, I wanted to give a final review for her. We really enjoyed the experience of sailing on a smaller ship and spending our time in St. George's, Bermuda. Since we live in Delaware, we really like cruising from Philadelphia and are sad to think that the future of the port is in jeopardy now that the Majesty is leaving.
Having read mixed reviews prior to our cruise, we were pleasantly surprised with the Majesty and her crew. While the Majesty is a smaller, older ship, she still has a certain charm and intimate feel that is often not found on the newer, larger ships. With our cabin on deck 6, we found it very centrally located and easy to find our way around the ship.
The senior officers and crew were among the best we've ever experienced (6 cruises on RCCL and 8 on NCL). Since the Majesty is smaller, we often saw the senior officers on deck and they always acknowledged us and often stopped to chat. The waitstaff in the Seven Seas were quite friendly, courteous, and provided excellent service. Our cabin stewards, Fidel and Avelino, were fun to talk with and took great care of us.
Bermuda was as lovely and picturesque as we had remembered. Docking in St. George's was a real treat since it has so much history and charm. Our horse-drawn carriage ride with John was a highlight of the trip. Traveling through the quaint, old streets and hearing wonderful stories about the homes and the traditions was quite special. He and other Bermudians are wondering what will happen to St. George's after this season when the cruise ships can't dock there. Since the Majesty has docked there for many years, the townspeople have a special bond with the NCL crew. It will be a sad farewell for all on Thursday, October 29, when the ship sails through the Cut for the last time.
