This trip sold us on cruising!!!

Sail Date: October 2009
Destination: Southern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

We flew into Ft. Lauderdale the day of the cruise. I was very nervous and it was not necessary. Our luggage came out quickly and we were in a cab and on our way to the port within a half hour of landing! It was a very short ride from the airport to the ship. $15 cab! Much less expensive than the Carnival transfer and we didnt have to wait for anyone!

Embarkation - This was fairly quick and painless. We arrived around 12:00 and were given a Zone 5 tag. We were on the ship about an hour after arriving at the port.

Our room was ready and we met our room steward Ivalina, who was really great throughout the trip. We didnt have a towel creature every day but about every second which made DD quite happy! Our bags arrived well in advance of supper so we were all able to get refreshed and ready for the evening no problem!

Overall observations The ship was fairly easy to find your way around on. DD was able to lead us to Camp Carnival after the second More time!

Camp Carnival was wonderful. DD was always asking to go play with her friends there. We let her spend most evenings at CC and generally picked up by 10 - just before babysitting for a fee started. I got mixed up a couple of times as the location of the activities was not always at the same place so make sure to read the Capers very carefully!!

Nick & Nora's - we enjoyed our dinner here very much! The servers were very attentive. The food was fantastic! The lobster was okay - I have had better but I still enjoyed it. The steaks were done perfectly.

The Main Dinning Room - we had Anytime Dining and YES that is the way to go. It was fantastic. We didnt have to wait once for a table!!! We were able to walk in ahead of the people waiting in line for their early or late seating!

Horatios's Buffet on the Lido Deck - it was okay. Nothing thrilling here. The grill had great burgers and chicken fingers but other than that nothing stands out.

Debarkation - we used self debark which was super easy - no waiting. And we had 6 bags so lots to manage but we did it!!

All in all the Miracle was a great ship and it sold us on the Carnival line. After sailing on Disney - a 3 day in January on the Wonder - we were a little concerned it wouldnt meet the same standards we enjoyed on the Wonder. However, the service and food was just as great!! Less

Cabin review: Carnival Miracle Balcony Empress 6253

We had a great location - one side of our balcony was free of neighbors!!! It is mid ship and we would choose this type of room again!

Port and Shore Excursions

This was our favorite port. Great shopping, clean well laid out. We hired a cab after shopping and went to Cockelshell Beach - Reggage Beach Bar. It was okay. Everyone had a great time but this beach was my least favorite of the three. We snorkeled at all three islands and the water at this beach was cloudy and not the beautiful green/blue you want to see in the Caribbean.

This was our first port. We spent the morning shopping - be sure to check out Marten's Candy Store! He is great and lets you use his computer to check email etc. for no charge!! We then went back to the ship for lunch and returned ready to hit a beach! A cab took us to Dawn Beach - we were told it was the best for snorkelling. They were right!! Great spot, not busy, drink service - $1 beer!!! Beautiful beach!
