Westerdam doesn't ROCK, and that's a good thing!
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)
As most savvy travelers already know, YOU make or break your own trip. If you are looking for issues, there are usually some to find. Don't wait for anybody to fall and kiss your feet when you arrive. If you are a millionaire, maybe this is different, but most of us live in the "real world" That said, The Westerdam is made for us real world people / travelers. It's a great size ship, the staff if attentive and accommodating, the food is good, and the cabins are great!
The SS cabin is the perfect size. The larger bathroom is reason enough to book this category. The large balcony and room with more than enough storage are not bad features either.
We had a nice hot breakfast delivered to the room every morning. Then off to the spa. We booked a More package for the week that gave only 40 people access to the saunas, heated tile beds, and huge jacuzzi. Very nice option. Book this when you first arrive.
Drinks started around noon, and went into the evening. We cruise alone this trip, and asked to be assign to a table for 8. We ended up with great table mates, and really enjoyed meeting them.
Then off to a show or the casino before going back to the cabin.
Then we just got up and did it all over again. Our king of do nothing trip.
The ports were fun. Grand Turks, Grand Cayman, Costa Maya and Half Moon Cay. We don't do shore excursions, so we just walk the islands, and find a nice beach with cool drinks to sit in the sun. I know this may sound boring to some, but we love it. No phones, emails, dishes or laundry to do. Just crash.
I think we have now been to all of the Caribbean Island, so off to the Pacific! Less
