my wife and i were on the Oct 17th sailing of the Pearl. it was our 6th cruise overall but only the 2nd with NCL. our 1st experience was not too hot (sailed the Sun back in Feb of '08). but NCL gave us a couple of incentives that we accepted and we are glad we we did. embarkation was a breeze)helpful hint: do not try and be the first person on the ship). we stepped out of the transfer bus and were in our stateroom within 15 minutes, although no one offered to take our luggage from us so we lugged it all with us through the terminal and aboard the ship. this turned out to be a plus since we unpacked and headed straight to the upper pool deck. after ordering drinks from 3 different servers, Ernesto Advincula took our order. he came back with our drinks and key card and addressed me by name. at that moment i told him that i would only order drinks from him the entire week (which i did about 98% of the time). he made sure our bucket always had ice in it and was very attentive to our needs.

we ate at a couple of the specialty restaurants throughout the week:

La Cucina: service could have been a little more attentive. food was good Le Bistro: service was great as was the food. i was going to dine at Cagney's Steakhouse on board since i always like to get a fillet mignon but after eating a beef tenderloin meal at Le Bistro i no longer saw the need to pay the $25/pp charge at Cagney's Teppanyaki: i personally think the $25 cover charge was too much. the service was great, the food portions were small except for the rice which i think was the best part of the meal.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MA

our cabin (11576) was in a good location as far as easy access to the buffet, pool and gym (one deck above). the only complaint i had is that the children's camp was directly above us and we heard them running around above us while we tried to sleep (10 PM-ish). other than that, i loved the location of our junior suite.
