Ship Facts: Monarch of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Monarch of the Seas Deck Plans
Quality has really gone down hill...
My wife and I booked this cruise mainly to get away for a little R & R. We've taken this same trip and other cruises over the past few years. We did have rainy weather on this cruise, with highs about 70 degrees every day. For the age of this ship it is very clean. The cabins are very small (compared to Carnival), but we didn't spend much time there anyway.

The food was horrible. We ate breakfast in the Windjammer, which is buffet style. We also tried the dining room. We always ate our dinner in the main dining room. They had a good variety of selections on the menu. The steak was tough, entrees were cold or room temp. We did this same cruise in 2005 and the food was amazing. Our waiters however were good. Having poor food was definetly a low point for this cruise.

Entertainment on this ship is definitely lacking. They need more variety. Carnival has them beat by a long shot in this area.

Their fitness room is very nice with fairly new equipment. However, they need to put their air conditioner at a lower temp. and also they need to put several fans in there. It was too hot and stuffy even early in the mornings. Great view while working out....

Ensenada: We decided to go to La Bufadora (the blow hole), nice ride through the countryside and then up the side of a mountain. The only way you can see the blow hole is to walk down a long path of merchants that have great deals that get better by the minute.

RCCL annouced that they were pulling this ship in a couple of months and you can tell they didn't care about future cruise business in LA. We were very turned off by this cruise and have since switched back to Carnival.
